Sat evening my feet started swelling..and when I say swelling I'm mean my feet, my ankles and my calves..IT was horrible..I tried drinking water, which thats really all I drink..I tried putting up my feet..Nothing help..SO I went to bed..Sunday morning I woke up and they were better..But after being up for a couple of hours it was back..I couldnt put my shoes on..My ankles were so bad it didnt look right..again my calves were so swollen it felt weird. They stayed that way all day..Now it's morning time now and they look fine..So when should I be worried..I know it's normal part of pregnancy..But I have 3 other children and never had this problem..Should I call the doc or just put up my feet and drink water..Any help would be great!

I am having the SAME issue myself for the past 2-3 days...swelling is TERRIBLE...the skin is all tight around my feet and just about HURTS. Putting them in a footspa made them feel better, but did not take the swelling down...I got in the bathtub last night, and tried to elevate them above my heart--that helped only a little. Same as you, the only thing that truly helps is being laid down at night.

I'm going in for an NST today, and am going to pay close attention to my blood pressure and also ask the nurses what they think, because I'm sure by the time I'm there it's gonna be terrible again (my Nike sandals leave indents in my feet!).

I know you must be so uncomfortable! Just to make you feel better swelling with pre-e usually doesn't go away and it will also hit you hard in the hands and face.

I think you've just hit that stage were swelling is inevitable, hang in there--not much longer now!

yeap, you seem to have reached that time (Good Job! btw) Anyways, lucky you arent having them in the summer though i'm sure it's pretty warm where you are. Anyways, I swelled up so bad i just gave up and wore flip flops pretty much everywhere...mens ones at that. They are a little bit wider. I asked my doctor and he said that you need to start worrying about it when you press on it (your "cankles") and it takes awhile for the color to return. meaning when you press on it and it turns white, it takes like longer than 20 seconds to return to the normal color. That means that theres a probelm and you should prolly call your doctor. I thought it helped when i would put my feet in cold water....cold rags helped..but other than that, i think your pretty much in the time frame that they're going to get big...and i carried my boys to 36 weeks (born july 20th)...Good Luck and Keep your feet up.

I asked the nurses at my NST, and they said that kinda swelling is pretty normal for this stage of the game, and to only be concerned if your blood pressure goes haywire, you have blurry or wierd vision problems or a bad headache. Hope that helps...sounds like we just have to suffer through it! I'm right there with ya!

I'm hoping to make it as far as you before the swelling sets in. With my DS I had it so bad--it was miserable! I know your pain!

Yeah, thanks for the trip down memory lane. I believe its pretty normal at your stage of pregnancy to be so swollen. Flip flops became my new best friend. It is uncomfortable but the best thing you can do is try to keep your feet up. Good luck!

Just joining in the sympathy parade. [IMG] If it helps, I'm a little jealous as mine started last week at 31 weeks. I've been putting off buying the compression stockings because it would be just one more thing to buy and put on and don't know how comfortable they are. Post if you find more tips that help!

It must be this stage of the pregnancy.
I am in the same boat as you.

You're doing great -- my swelling started much earlier and it did get severe. My blood pressure eventually started to rise but I never was pre-e. I had to get some pregnancy shoes to get me through the last few weeks because I couldn't wear ANY of my shoes (not even slippers or flip flops).

The good news is that after the babies are born, the swelling will go away and you'll lose amazing amounts of weight. The bad news is that your skin will look all thick and crinkly where you were swollen. That will eventually go away also.

I've got the same swelling. Most of my maternity pants do not fit because my calves are so swollen. And I bought some ballet shoe type slippers at Wal-mart- I couldn't even do flip-flops. Most of it goes away overnight though. And being on bedrest keeps it from getting too bad during the day. My dr. thinks I have about 15-20 lbs of fluid on me- maybe more. I've also got the edema on my lower belly, which is really weird!!
