We have been swaddling our babies since they got home, it works great and really seems to help them sleep. Right now we are using the hospital receiving blankets to swaddle during the day, and the Kiddopotamus swaddlers at night, I love them b/c you can use the "escape hatch" to change a nighttime diaper without unswaddling their arms. Just out of curiousity:

What kind of swaddler did/do you use?

When did you stop swaddling during the day?

When did you stop swaddling at night?

    Thanks!

We used plain old receiving blankets and then Kiddopatamus swaddler blankets (i loved them too!)
We only swaddled during the day for the first month or so.
Then it was at night until about 5 months.
    We quit cold turkeyt!

Hmmm....we just used plain old receiving blankets as well. I guess we swaddled for a good month or two straight, most of the time since it was cold and they mostly slept anyways.

I don't remember exactly, but I think it was just a gradual thing, until they were squirming out of them. Probably stopped at 2-3 months?

We used the hospital blankets until we bought our miracle blankets

When did you stop swaddling during the day?
It is so hard to remember now but I know it was after we stopped the night swaddling, maybe 7 months

When did you stop swaddling at night?
    Right around 6 months

At first the babies were so small we just used Kushies receiving blankets, the we used the Kiddopotamus (sp?) wraps, then when the boys were getting big I bought these bigger organic cotton blankets.

When did you stop swaddling during the day?

I still swaddle for naps, but this week we started doing one arm out. My boys are almost 7 months old!

When did you stop swaddling at night?
About 5 months we started using sleep sacs consistently at night.

Receiving blankets and then the miracle swaddler

When did you stop swaddling during the day?
when they were about 2 months old

When did you stop swaddling at night?
When they were about 3 months old...they just kept wrestling out it and waking up. As soon as we stopped swaddling they started sleeping longer. Strange!

we use whatever blanket is big enough to swaddle them in, and are still going strong with the swaddle at both naps and bedtime....mine are 5 months old.

Started with receiving blankets, after 3 weeks moved to SwaddleMe, then Miracle Blanket (wish I'd known about the miracle blankets sooner, we would have just gone with those).

Stopped swaddling during the day at 4mo.

Stopped swaddling at night by 5mo. We took one arm out, then both, then switched to sleep sacks within a week.

Owen never quite slept as soundly after the transition. But he was doing 7-7 at 3mo, so I KNEW that was too good to last  .

We're the weird ones. We used flannel receiving blankets for the first two days home from the hospital and quickly discovered that they slept much better without the swaddle. They seemed to enjoy being able to move around the crib and they liked sleeping with their arms up. I was shocked at how mobile they were. I'd put them down on opposite ends of the crib and every single time I went to get them they were snuggled together. I guess they were more comforted by close proximity than by swaddling.

We used the fleecy kiddopotamus ones the first few weeks the girls were home- they got cold really easily so these were great, now I just use receiving blankets.

After their 8am feeding they are unswaddled until after their 7:30pm feeding. We stopped daytime swaddling after a few weeks.

I swaddled them for about the first 6 weeks or so in receiving blankets.

We use flannel receiving blankets (more versatile).

We are swaddling at night still at 3 months, but stopped swaddling during the day after a couple of weeks because we live in DC and their blankets were damp with sweat after an hour. Honestly, though, I think they'd sleep better (longer) swaddled.

After trying many, many different blankets including Kiddopotamus, we found the Miracle Blanket. It's the only one that they stay swaddled in.

They are 4.5 months old right now and we are still swaddling them. They sleep almost 10 hours at night and I just can't bring myself to stop.
