We are still swaddling the babies at bedtime. They are finally starting to discover their hands and I am not sure if it is best to un-swaddle them now. My only concern is my DD. She is CONSTANTLY moving and I am afraid she would startle herself awake if she wasn't swaddled (she is an excellent sleeper when swaddled).

How long did you swaddle for?

Well, my twins are only four weeks, so we are still swaddling. I notice my boy sleeps fine unswaddled, the times we have tried it, but my girl who was the smaller twin DOES startle more and wake up frequently.
We swaddled my toddler until she was like five or six months. She LOVED it and had a really hard time sleeping the other way.

We used our miracle blankets until the girls were 6 months old.

We swaddled until they started to break out of them around 3-4 months.

Our daughter is still swaddled, but our son has not been for probably a month. Emma still won't sleep without a swaddle!

we only swaddled for a few weeks. They seemed to get out of them easily and my doctor suggested not swaddeling them so we stopped. Looking back I should have kept with it and got a better blanket or one of those swaddle things. They probably would have slept better earlier on but they are 10 weeks now and doing much better.

My two started fighting the swaddle around 6 weeks, so we quit then!

Colin didn't need the swaddle as much so at 3 months I just stopped him once he got to wiggley for it. Lia (again) was a little bit more high maintenance. Once she started to pull her arms out and un-do the swaddle I just started swaddling her with arms out. Then about 5 months it was getting to warm for the swaddle.

We swaddled until 6 months with just a regular receiving blanket. I know most babies can break out by then (and sometimes mine could), but I had the swaddling down! It was super tight and I was so afraid of stopping because I thought they would wake themselves up all of the time, but it really was no big deal. Maybe one rough night and then back to normal.

We just stopped swaddling at 6.5 mths. My guys were breaking out of the miracle blanket every night and seemed to do ok after getting free, so we finally got brave and tried the whole night un-swaddled. It took a night or 2 to adjust, but they are fine now.

My oldest daughter hated being swaddled so we only did it for about 2 months. My youngest HAD to be swaddled or she wouldn't sleep. I think we stopped around 5 or 6 months when she started really moving around a lot in her sleep.

I think we only swaddled for about 2 weeks, if that. My two weren't real happy with the swaddle.

We are still swaddling my girls and they are 2 months tomorrow. But they hate their arms being swaddled so we have never swaddled their arms in. My older DD was the same way.

We switched to swaddleme's around 3 months, and stopped swaddling around 4-5 months. Now we use sleep sacks.

We did a full swaddle until about 4wks and then a week or so of no-arms swaddling before switching to sleep sacks. There was a couple of days around week 8 or so where they were fussy and I swaddled them again but generally they hated having their arms and legs pinned. They flail and bump each other but normally it doesn't wake the other one up.

Mine loved being swaddled. We stopped at 5.5 months. DS started sleeping better unswaddled. DD has never slept as well since we stopped swaddling. I'm not sure why.
