My girls are just past 12 weeks and still get swaddled at night in their Miracle blankets. When do you know to stop? Right now my girls pretty much sttn from about 10-5:30 eat and go back to sleep from 6:30-8ish. When I first put them down sometimes the wiggle a little bit before falling asleep, sometimes more and then I know they probably need to be burped again. This morning when I went in my daughter Megan had wiggled an arm out and the other almost out. I tried a few weeks ago not to swaddle but all they did was lay in the crib kicking and moving their arms all over the place.

Mine actually outgrew the Miracle Blanket in length around 3 months....I started weaning them off it by leaving one arm unswaddled, then two....

Finally, my DS started rolling to his tummy, still swaddled -- so I knew it was time to stop! DD actually had no problems, but DS was an unsettled sleeper for awhile (he had a surgery around the same time, so he was a little "off" for awhile anyway) -- but then I moved to the Halo fleece sleep sacks, and they've been fine ever since.

    Good luck!

I swaddled my boys until about two weeks ago (just legs, they never liked their arms swaddled). I went out of town with my mom and left their swaddle blankets at home, so we had to stop swaddling. It went fine.

mine hated to be swaddled. they would break out of it all the time i would find arms out first then legs. i just used a sleep sack at least that stayed on for a bit.

We haven't swaddled ours since they were two months. they get too aggitated when they can't move their arms around. Which then makes them very fussy, so we gave up on that.

We still swaddle for naps and bed time. Don't mess with what works, is what I figure! :)

I still swaddle, with those swaddle-me things for night time, and blankets for naps. They calm down and relax almost as soon as I put them on.

At the same time, I've started experimenting with naps, letting them hold a lovey (in their swings where I can make sure it's not in their face) to calm themselves.

I don't know...it just seems to work for both of mine really well. Maybe because they were so tight together in the womb?

I'd be interested in what other people have to say.

I also used the miracle blankets (loved them!!!) and swaddled until I spent more time reswaddling in the middle of the night. My babies started to break out of them quite early, at that point we stopped swaddling. I was afraid but it was not as bad as I thought it would be. I will say that they way we got through is was to put the babies on their bellys to sleep. Our ped said it was fine because they could roll from belly to back at that point. I know many people have their own opinion about this but that is how it worked for us.

Our boys loved being swaddled. We did until they were almost 5 months old, for naps and bedtime. By about 3 months, we were just swaddling under their arms. During the summer it was so dang hot but they wanted to be swaddled, so I found very light cotton material and stripped them to a diaper for naps.

We stopped when they started trying to get out of it all the time and actually succeeding getting an arm out.
