ok… my dh was right… if I continued to brag about my boys sttn they would stop… and they have… but it’s the flippen swaddle… for the last 4-5 nights it has gone like this… Bottle at 6 in bed by 7…. Nathan up at 1:30am busted out of his swaddle and not happy… I re swaddle and give his binky :lazy: … Then 2:30 Seth busts free … re swaddle re binky :lazy: … then Nathan bust free again at 3:30 Seth 4:30, Nathan 5 Seth 5:20 bottle at 6am… now this happened around 8 weeks… but my boys are big (at least compared to my older ds was at the same time) so I asked my mom to make them 4 bigger receiving blankets to swaddle them in… and she did and it had worked until this week… it’s like they are over the swaddle… but if they bust out of it I think they are still startling themselves awake… how about you guys… are you still swaddling… I just put them down for a nap and left one are out… Seth went down ok (but he loves to suck on his fist) but Nathan I had to stand over his crib and re binky for about 3 min until he fell asleep (an habit I’m not king on starting…)

I didn’t swaddle older ds this long (like only a couple weeks) BUT he didn’t sttn until 9m so I don’t know if not swaddling him had something to do with it….

How about you ladies w/ babies this age (not 6m+ like in 1st year)

girl - the woes of sleeping!!
I swaddle Aubrie with one arm out (so she can suck her thumb)... I always go in and check on her when I go to bed and she is ALWAYS unswaddled but I just leave her... she doesn't seem to be bothered not being swaddled up (she's the one that goes 12 hours)

Lexi I swaddle with both arms in and she gets a paci. Last night she only went 6 hours and then was up to eat -- then I re-swaddled and paci and back to bed. When she got up this morning she was unswaddled - but I'm not sure if that's what woke her up or not (I haven't really paid much attention to the whole swaddling thing for the past few weeeks...)

I know how frustrating it can be getting up EVERY HOUR to re-swaddle/paci the entire night! For some reason, I can't remember how long I swaddled my boys.... and not sure how long I'll keep swaddling the girls. OK - really I've been no help so I'll sign off now - LOL

Thanks… I’m weaning out of it… I leave one arm out when I put them down and last night I never went in to re swaddle … I’m waiting 5 min before I go in there room (well last night was the first time)… literally I have a stop watch and make myself wait 5 min… and its funny twice (once at 1am and the other at 5am) they stopped making noise (as they never really cry when I made myself wait… just kind of yell out) at 4min 30 sec…

I weaned mine off them at 4 months for the same reason... they were breaking free all the time. Now they love their sleep sacks, and I'm afraid they can't sleep without them either...

At 4 months STTN over here was still hit-or-miss. It was a lot like you are describing with waking up for a binkie. They didn't get conistent about not needing any sort of swaddle or waking up for the pacifire until 6 months.

Camdyn does not usually like to be swaddled. She only likes it if she is overtired. She will fight me the whole time. Kyle loves to be swaddled. If I don't swaddle him he will wake up and have trouble falling asleep. If they kick them off during the night I will not disrupt them to fix it. They are so funny aren't they.
