Surprise! Pregnant With #3

I just found out this week that I'm pregnant with #3. We were not trying to conceive, but not using birth control, either. We didn't think we'd get pregnant with our history of infertility. Anyway, we are really shocked and pretty nervous about having 3 kids under the age of 2. So far I'm feeling dizzy, tired and a little nauseated, but not too bad. I think I'm about 5 weeks along and will be due in September. I have an OB appt when I will be about 9 weeks along. We've told our families and everyone is really surprised. I'm really hoping it's just one baby! I wish I could get an ultrasound sooner. I got spoiled since I had a lot of ultrasounds with my twins. So how are you surviving pregnancy while caring for twins? Any tips?

Congratulations!! I don't have any experience since my twins came after my singleton but I will say that having one after having twins will be a breeze, I'm sure! :)

Congratulations! My first dd was 20 months when my twins were born...so a bit opposite from you...it was crazy for awhile. You'll probably be gating things off and making things very toddler proof for awhile!

Congratulations!!! What I would do, towards the end of the pregnancy is to sit down and have a game that the kids had to move around (like "can you walk like an elephant"). Take breaks... drink lots of water and talk to your twins about the coming baby. Yours are younger (a year) than mine were when I found out I was pregnant with #3 (&4). Good luck!

eta: I know you didn't ask this, but you can still nurse your twins and be pregnant! Do whatever makes you feel comfortable. If you aren't taking prenatal vitamins, start taking them again!

Congrats on the new baby! Best advice is to get your "current" kids on a nice routine if they aren't already. That will help.

I am still nursing the twins for now. I will try to nurse them as long as they are interested.

  7. Congratulations! I was overwhelmed too when I unexpectantly became pregnant with Number Three. My twins are a bit older than yours, but I agree with the other post-ers that getting the twins' routine established is key. When my twins are napping, I make myself lay down, too. Also, gather as much help as you can. Are your husband/mom/siblings/friends able to help you look after the twins so you can rest? I also found that I needed to adjust my expectations about what I could accomplish during the day. The world will not end if the house isn't spotless or you have to order take-out for supper sometimes. Also, during my first (and now third trimester) when I was/am exhausted, I rely alot on quiet at-home activities like stickers, reading books, and watching educational movies to keep the twins entertained. Sometimes you need to be kind to yourself, put your pjs on and stay close to home! And finally, when you have a good day when you're feeling well and have lots of energy, take advantage of it! Take the kids out or spend time with friends. Housework can wait another day
    Good luck!

Congratulations! I'm in the same boat and it hasn't quite sunk in yet, what a shock!

Hang in there and good luck!

We'll be due around the same time:)
