Superyard XT

I'm thinking about getting one of these. The probem is that I really won't use it in my home, cause we really don't have that much space. I would use it when we are out visiting at certain places (plan on getting the alphabet mat peices to put under). I guess my question is how long I'll be able to use it for? I mean, once they are walking well will it be done with? Will I be able to use it for a couple of years?

We used it past their first birthday, but maybe not by much. We did still use it around the Christmas tree (at 17 months) and the tv stand until they were 2. We had several hand me down ones and extensions. We were SuperYard Central for a while there.

 

We just bought this with the extension and the alphabet mat too (along with another cheaper mat to go underneath....the alphabet one didn't seem cushy enough). We have absolutely no room. So basically, my living room looks like a boxing ring! A baby boxing ring! I never take it down as they hate their exersaucers now and I have nowhere else to put them when I'm getting their meals ready, changing them, etc.

I was wondering the same thing too since the two of them are already scaling the sides of it....I don't know how long it will last. But that's okay for now.

I originally saw the Superyard in the One Step Ahead catalog. I think I remember seeing one that was taller and a bit sturdier. Although this superyard is very sturdy. BUt I'm not sure now. I'll have to check it out.

 

We used it for approximately two months. They really hated being in there and it took up my whole living room.

 

My babies are not particularly active (and not climbers), but we quit using the Superyard at 16 months. And we hardly used it at all after about 12 months. Unless there was a really urgent reason why I HAD to leave the room without them, it was easier to keep an eye on them at all times than to listen to the whining.

It was invaluable from about 6-12 months, though. It took up our whole dining room (we had to squeeze the table into a corner of the living room), but at that age, they didn't mind being in it for awhile. We could even give them their bottles and put them in there, and they'd play while DH and I had breakfast and read the paper.

If you're mostly planning on travelling with it, be aware that it's not nearly as easy (IMO) to move as they claim. Yes, once it's folded it's pretty easy, but the joints are very stiff and it's pretty unwieldy. We had to move it out of the way once or twice when we had company, and it was a huge pain.

 

i have one in my livingroom and one in there bedroom that we use all the time, (they are both set up like gates not in a circle this was our hole livingroom is a play area)we took one when we went to the beach where my parents are camping and it was priceless to have a place to put them. Great thing is you can resell them when you are done. I LOVE mine!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I loved my superyard w/ DD#1 she loved to walk around in it holding on to it when she was learning to walk. Once she figured out she could push it around tho it was done in the house. I also used it so she could have a safe place to be in the yard while I pulled weeds, now we mostly use it like a gate to keep the dogs on or off our deck. I anticipate wanting to use it again soon for the babies but I will have to power wash it first!
