    DS starting crawling....all over!!
we spend the day downstairs open kitchen family room)
I have tile on most of the house so I'm afraid of them falling back when they are tired...dd is not crawling (no intentions)
until now they spend most of the time on an area rug.

I see him sitting down on his own when he is tired..
    anyway..
should I spend the $$$$ for the superyard gate. I would put in where the rug is and would buy extension...

but I don't know if it is worth the $$$..how long they will use it or if they would even stay there....

or should I just clear the house and let him crawl around????

PLEASE advice!!! what to you do?

I can't really offer too much advice but I can say that we just bought the superyard xt and the extension kit. My LOs are not yet crawling but they are still able to get just about anywhere they want to go by rolling over and inchworming. We have not set it up yet but BabiesRUs had it for $20 off if you bought both when we were there Sunday so we thought we would go ahead and get it to save money.

Our kitchen/family room is ceramic tile with an area rug (that isn't very padded) and our SuperYard is up around the tv/dvd/stereo area so the boys can't get in there. Did they bump their heads? Yes. Did they cry? A little. Did it bother them or hinder them from crawling/sitting/walking more? Not a bit! I'm constantly amazed how hard their heads are! Plus, if you think about how far they are falling, it's not as bad as if we were falling. It's a very personal decision if you want them to have free reign or not. My entire first floor is completely baby proofed and feels much like a day care, but that doesn't bother us. Some people like to keep the toys contained to one area just as part of their personality. I hope that makes sense. I think I need some caffeine today! :)

I have a play yard set up in my living room. Most of the time we leave it up in a 1/2 circle to keep them away from the hearth, but still give them room to scoot. When we need to leave them alone for a few minutes, we close it up. It's the only way I know to keep the boys safe while unattended!

Honestly, it was the best money we ever spent. We take ours with us everywhere we go – when we travel to family's houses or stay in motels (we put blankets down for padding for them to sleep on), we use it instead of bringing PNP’s or renting cribs. We LOVE ours and admit we probably used it too much, but it definitely kept them safe and I would recommend them to everyone who has a child or children.

I had one and rarely used it! I did have our main room gated off downstairs and totally baby proofed though, so that is probably why!

I have all tile floors too. I have not got a gate yet, but am thinking about it. My Lo's are getting all over the place as well. I can tell you I went to sam's club and bought interlocking activity mats....GREAT!!!! They are the primary colors, each square is 2x2 and 8 come in a pack for $22.00. I bought 3 of them and placed them on half of my living room and a small spot in my kitchen, they love it!! They are thick too , so when they wack their head its not so bad.

For us it was worth the money, we used it to block off the steps (our kitchen, dining room and living room are on the same floor). They still have plenty of space to roam but they are kept out of harms way...good luck on your decision!

Definitely get it. I also went back and forth with getting one and I'm so glad we did. Once they both start crawling they will go in opposite directions and want to pull up on everything and then fall over on the floor. We have all hardwoods/tile. If we had wall to wall carpet, then we probably would not have gotten it. I would also recommend getting the larger one with the door that opens from one step ahead. I'm glad I have the door because I'm short and it is hard for me to get over it.

I bought a Superyard with extensions for under $40 used and need to just get out the power washer to clean it. My plan is also to create a baby safe play area. Maybe send out an email to your MOTC if you are in one or check Craig's List.

We loved ours had two sets, we used them while camping when we needed a stop to let them play alone.
we even used it last christmas when they were 2 years old to protect our chrisrtmas tree from the kids.
i would think of it as you can use it to keep your kids in for now but also us it to help protect things from your kids later on, like a christmas tree.
you can sell they when you are done on craigslist also. i sold one set for $40.00
