How much do you use your play yards at this age? I was thinking about buying a used one that I found for $20, normally $130. I thought it might come in handy to put up around the Christmas tree this year. But will I really use it any more then that? I pretty much keep the girls confined to the kitchen and living room. I thought maybe I might use next summer outside?

Excellent question. I was wondering the same thing but I haven't run across one on sale. I would definitely buy it. I was thinking the same thing about the tree plus I want to go camping this winter. I thought th corral might save me a teeny, tiny bit of worry. Looking forward to the responses.

We've had superyards from the get go. 1st to keep the dogs away from the babies and then after they were mobile, to keep them away from the dogs.

I think they were only happy contained in it (2 put together) up until last summer (9-10mo old). Once they started to walk...they were done. We use pieces of ours now to keep them out of the TV and will probably use it in front of the Christmas tree. But they wouldn't have been happy outside in it this past summer.

Since it's a good deal on Craigslist, I'd grab it for the tree, but wouldn't count on being able to use it outside next summer. But that might also depend on the temperament of your kiddos. I'm actually surprised we're still in cribs at this point. They take any confinement as a personal challenge... ;)

We stopped using ours as a pen (for lack of a better word) by about a year when we had our first walker. After that it just wouldn't do. We still, however, use pieces of it here and there to block things off. It has be sturdy or they will just push it along the floor.

For $20 I think it's a great investment to keep your tree safe. Otherwise, I doubt it'll be of much use to you. Once my kids could walk, they figured out how to climb over it, so it wasn't much good. I know kids are different, but I seriously doubt your kids will "accept" staying within the confines of the super yard if they are mobile.

Probably putting it around the tree will be its only use, at this point. We used ours a lot until two or three months ago, and then K&K started protesting going in -- they knew they were being penned up, and weren't happy about it!

We even tried adding three or four extensions, so we had a HUGE Super Yard -- still no dice.

I'm going to keep it for the Christmas tree this year, maybe, and then sell it on Craig's List...

I have 2 of them so the "pen" is pretty big when put together, but all 3 of my kids screamed terribly when I put them in it so it was a waste of our money. Personally, Inever confined my kids and was only interested in using it outside. If you haven't been using one (inside and outside) since they were crawling, I won't spend the money.

We rarely used ours after 12 months, and quit using it entirely at 15 months. They just hated it too much, it wasn't worth it. I did haul it out of the garage around Christmas in case we needed to block off the tree last year (they had just turned 2), but they were fine with the tree and we never needed it.
