I am curious to hear what sunscreen you guys use. Particularly, I would love recommendations for natural or "healthier" sunscreens that work VERY well at preventing burns. My boys have very sensitive skin and are allergic to a lot of lotions/sunscreens. The ones that don't aggravate their skin seem to result in sun burns (i.e. they don't work very well!).

I'd love any rave reviews from those of you who have found a great product. :)

My friend's son (hi Lois!) has issues with eczema and she uses Blue Lizard sunscreen. She got it from One Step Ahead.

I haev used both the water babies and california baby. I have one light skinned and one really tan little girl. Amazingly, both have helped with my fair skinned dd and she has never gotten "burned". I love that CA Baby is natural and I don't feel as guilty leaving it on overnight...yes...if I don't have the energy for baths before bed ;). However, my tanned dd, the CA Baby doesn't seem to rub in real well on ehr and she always has a white filmy residue on her when I use it. Oh, an dCA baby is kind of pricy. Has anyone used the Aveeno sunscreen? Thoughts?

What I look for is sunscreens that have only physical barriers like titanium dioxide and zinc oxide -- and nothing else. I worry about all those chemicals being toxic....

So far, I really like Blue Lizard Baby, which is SPF 30. I put it on very thick, and it looks white for awhile, but it does get absorbed. Works great. But, not all the Blue Lizard sunscreens are chemical free, only the baby one, I think....(unsure)

We use Avalon Organics baby sunscreen. It's only SPF 18, but it seems to work great for my girls. We all have super pale skin and live in New Mexico - desert and high altitude, so good sunscreen is a must. The only problem I have with this sunscreen is that it's hard to rub in. It's a physical blocker, so it goes on white and stays that way unless I do a really good job of applying it. When I'm lazy, my poor little girls look even paler than they are!

We use Blue Lizard on Sarah -- it's a physical blocker rather than a chemical. I got it for a reasonable price on drugstore.com (way less than all the other brands on our dermatologist-recommended list).

It's supposed to be good for sensitive skin, which Sarah has, and it doesn't bother her -- however, it gave Amy a rash. So now we use Noxema (this fancy expensive stuff -- fortunately they sell it at Costco) for Amy's face and regular chemical sunscreen for her body. Not ideal, but better than nothing. There's just no way I can pay $16 for a 4-oz tube of most of the "natural" brands.
