Just wondering which sunscreen is safe to use for infants. It's is very sunny here in California, what sun protection others are using?

I don't think there are any sunscreens safe for babies under 6 months (not sure how old your babes are). We used Aveeno Sunscreen last year and are using Huggies spray now that they are older. Funny thing is that I use whatever I use on them and I ALWAYS burn. However, they don't. Thank goodness they got DH's Italian skin vs my fair Irish skin! :)

Like Megan mentioned, I think sunscreen is discouraged for babies younger than 6 months. I would try putting hats on them. If they are older than 6 months, we have usually used Coppertone for kids.

If you're concerned about any products you use on your babies, try looking them up in the Environmental Working Group database, which rates products on their toxicity level. You'd be surprised at how many products we have been taught to trust contain ingredients that cause cancer and mess with hormones. The website is extremely informative: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/splash.php?URI=%2Findex.php

We use sunscreens from Avalon Organics and California Baby when necessary, but I prefer to use hats, sleeves, and shades whenever possible.

I really like the Mustela Sunscreen for babies. I still use it on their faces but use the Waterbabies on their bodies now that they are older.

The Blue Lizard brand is hard to find but is perfect for those with very fair or sensitive skin. You may have to order it online, but it's a great sunscreen.

We used the Arbonne Baby Care sunscreen last year. It's all natural ingredients. We were out at the pool often and I had to put something on them. I was told by the pediatrician that it's better to put something on them then for them to burn.

We used the Aveeno baby last summer even though they were under 6 months. Our ped told us using something was better than risk them getting burnt. We'll be using it again this summer for them.

I use California baby...it's expensive but a little goes a long way. I cover them up as much as possible and use hats but as you know there is no escaping the California sun :)
