sun block

Hi,
What age do you start using sun block on your little ones?
Which brand do you use?

I think we started at 6 months? I like California Baby for babies. Now I use a Target spray.

 

No sunblock before six months.

I think we used Coppertone for infants. And I found out last year Anthony was allergic to it. Now, I use a spray one if I find it. So much easier. I have heard good things about California Baby.

 

We started at 6 months. We used the Target generic baby sunblock.

 

We use California Babies, but our pediatrician actually recommended starting sunblock before 6 mos. I don't know if it is because we are in Arizona, but apparently the American Pediatric Association doesn't think it inappropriate to use before 6 months if used sparingly.

 

The standards have changes recently and you can start before six months I you can't keep baby out of the sun.

 

That was always my wonder. I mean it didn't matter for my boys, they were six months old by the time spring/summer came along. But Annabella was an infant in the summer. I know many friends who don't know what to do, or didn't, because they were told no sunblock.

But the AAP says for small areas of the body, like the face and back of hands, if protective clothing and shade is not available. Good to know! Learn something new everyday!
