Summer = skinned knees?

    Now that we're into shorts weather (some of the time at least), it seems my girls have permanently skinned knees. They are pretty good walkers, but still go boom occasionally on uneven surfaces (i.e., outside). Today Sarah came home from daycare with bandaids on both knees. Short of buying them kneepads (which I know you can buy, but it seems extreme -- plus they'd never keep them on), what to do? We didn't have this problem last year because they weren't walking yet.

    Same here. We have knee pads that came with their bike helmets and they want to use it as shoes! ;)
    Just keep plenty of band aids and neosporin on hand. :rolleyes:

    Us too! I've been trying to put capris on the girls instead of shorts, or dresses. I prefer dresses because we are potty training, but I hate the skinned knees! They won't keep the bandaids on either!

    Me too! I'm now only doing capris and long shorts (for my son since they don't have capris for boys, lol).

    We just keep plenty of bandages on hand. They'll get more sure footed and have less falls, in the meantime just keep 'em cleaned. It didn't take mine long to use skinned knees to their advantage - they'd show anyone who would look to get themselves some sympathy points. :rolleyes:

    Same thing here! My boys walk fine but they get excited about something and forget to hold on when walking down steps outside or running across driveway and SPLAT. And the hardest part now is that Josh loves to PICK his booboos and make them bleed all over again :eek: :eek: He has a cut on his face from his lovely brother tackling him over a toy 6 WEEKS AGO. Every night and morning he picks at it and it bleeds. :angry: I am afraid he will have a scar there now :(

    I am thinking of trying the liquid bandaide? Any one hear if that is safe for kids????

    We deal with the same thing. If we go to the park I make sure they are wearing capris or long shorts. I also got them some lightweight cotton pants for this reason.

    Yup! And bruises all over their legs! We went shopping today and I know people thought we were abusing them!

    It's happening here too. Not much you really can do but try to stay in the grass a little more. Bruises all over their legs too. They're a mess! LOL! Frankly, it's just part of growing up.

    Oh yeah - here too! Bruises and scrapes on knees, legs and elbows - foreheads and chins even sometimes if they really get running and take a digger :) Bandaids and Neosporin by the truckload :)

    OK, I feel better now. :D I think partly I was worrying that the daycare teachers would think I was being silly for putting them in shorts & dresses when they are sure to be falling sometimes. But I guess it's just part of being a kid. Goodness knows I had a lot of skinned knees too.
