I am so clueless about dressing my girls. What do/will your girls wear when it's warm out? I bought a couple of these for them, but I don't know how warm it should be before thy wear them. It will be in the upper 70s tomorrow. Is that warm enough?

Also, my girls are only about 9 pounds right now and 2 months adjusted age. Would you buy them swimming suits or just wait until next summer?

I have a few of those for DD, but I don't think it's been warm enough for them yet. It's getting up to the high 70s and low 80s, but it's still cool in the mornings and evenings.

I've been putting them both in short sleeve onesies and pants or shorts on the really warm days. I'm reserving the tanks and sundresses for when it is HOT. I have some little dresses with short sleeves and bloomers (whatever you call those diaper covers that match the top) that I put her in last week. I always have a jacket or sweater for them both jic.

I guess I figure if they are in a onesie and pants or shorts they can always strip off the pants. I show up to get them and many days that is the case. I figure they'll be in onesies only when I pick them up today :)

Emma lives in those type outfits! Unfortunately they only go up to 24 months(that I have found anyway), so she is just about out of them!

I have swimsuits for the babies, but rarely use them. I usually put them in a swim diaper and rash guard.

oops I forgot to mention the swimsuit...

Do you swim much? I am a BIG swimmer and I am really excited to get the babies in the pool ASAP. I am also looking into infant swim classes. There is a place near us that starts classes at 6 months, but I'm not sure how effective they would be. Anyway, I have three suits for DS and two for DD so far. Of course I have a massive collection of suits for myself as well. Go figure.

Of course you might just want to do swimmer diapers, but I'm not sure how small they come. I think it would all depend on whether or not you intend to get in the water this summer and how important it is to you.

    HTH!

    Beth,

Last summer when my girls were the same size/age as yours, we dressed them in footie sleepers until it was truly warm out, then we switched over to short sleeve onsies with swaddle blankets while they slept. The outfits you bought are about the same as a onesie so if you're walking around in shorts and a tshirt your girls should be ok. If you have air conditioning you might want to dress them a bit warmer.

As for bathing suits... we didn't need/use them last summer. My girls were born in the beginning of May so they were only about four months old when summer ended; no trips to the pool for us at that age. Yours will be a bit older at the end of the summer, so maybe you'll take them to a pool. If you have one at your house then I'd say definately yes to swim suits. Since they're too young for sunscreen you might want to get those full body suits for babies that have SPF right in them.

    Enjoy the warm weather!

My girls LIVED in those outfits (the one you linked) last year!! I loved them because they were basically a onesie, but looked like clothes. Once it got into the upper 70s they started wearing them and I had a sweater for them if it got cold. They were too tiny for socks at the time so they went without and did just fine. I also bought some one piece long pants rompers without feet and light cotton footy sleepers (for when it wasn't that warm out).

We didn't use bathing suits at all last summer. They were too tiny and while I found two adorable 3-6 month suits, they never wore them because it wasn't practical.

I have a bunch of those for DD too, and I love them, so easy and so cute!!

We have had a ton of upper 70's days here and I put her in them. In the morning when it's chilly I'll put socks on her, but by afternoon she has the socks of and has never felt cold.

The only way to know is to try, if they seem cold then put another layer on.

My girls wore those little one piece outfits a lot their first summer, but not until it started drifting close to 80 or above. Before that they wore short sleeved onesies with long pants or a sleeper. I had them sleep in onesies because their room always stays pretty warm in the summer.

I would wait on the suit, my girls went in the water once that first summer and they wore just a swim diaper (and they hated it!). But their second summer, we had lots of suits, went swimming a lot, and they love the water.

I haven't put my DD's in shorts yet this year, hopefully soon. So far it's been short sleeves and capris.

We have lots of these - LOVE THEM!! I think if it is in the upper 70's, you would be fine. I put socks on my babies in the morning but if we stay at home, I take them off.

I plan to buy bathing suits because we just got a tiny inflatable pool.

My DD lived in those dress/romper one-pieces as a baby, but I think I waited until the weather was in the mid-80's at least. (or put a long-sleeved T under it).

Right now, with the weather hovering anywhere from 60 to 85 during the days, I am doing lots of layering! I start my boys in a cute short-sleeved onesie/romper, and either put a long-sleeved T under it, or a hoodie over it, plus a pair of pants. As the day progresses, I adjust the outfit as needed... often they are in just the onesie by late afternoon.
