After my doctor visit yesterday, she suggested "Perinatal Consult" and Twins Gestation as a indication. Is this common for all twin births?

Many women pregnant with twins are referred to a perinatologist. This is not a sign anything is wrong, just that the peri is more experienced in handing twin and high risk pregnancies.

Yes, very common and nothing to be concerned about.

Yes, very common. A lot of twin pregnancies are seen by an OB and a peri.

I see a perio just like many previous posters have stated!

You get lots and lots of ultrasounds, so that is fun!

I was actually told to stop seeing him because things were going so well but now that I'm much further along, we're seeing him again because the babies are hard to monitor by just my regular ob with minimal twins experience.

It's a GOOD thing to see a Perio, if you ask me!!!

I saw both a peri and my OB. It's definitely a good thing!

My OB referred me to one too. I was going to ask her for a referral if she didn't bring it up. I only saw him twice -- for the blood work and nuchal scan around 12 weeks and again for the Level II ultrasound at 19 weeks. But I knew I could go back to him if there were any issues with the babies' health.
