Suddenly waking at night for new diaper?

Dd started training a week ago, she is day trained (no accidents in 5 days) and is now waking every 20mins during her nap for a new diaper (she pee's then asks, it is still warm) and now tonight is waking at night for a new diaper. Does this mean she wants to stay dry at naps and bedtime? Do I just change them or put her in undies? She is still in a crib too, does that change things?

Hrrmm so Im not at that stage but the mommy in me says she must be working really hard at trying to stay dry! Must be on her little brain!
Im a big fan of underwear. She will feel it immediately and although it may cause some sheet changes initially I bet she can stop sooner if she can feel it well.
I also wonder because of sleeping in cribs how easily can she get up and go to the potty?

Ask her..if she would like to wear underwear and what she thinks of a big girl bed?

Staying dry at while sleeping isn't something they can control--it is part of the involuntary system. My guess is that she is uncomfortable being wet--but like during the day, being uncomfortable in a wet diaper does not= knowing before they go. Believe me, if Marcus could have controlled the night time wetting, he would not have had to wear a pull up for a year and a half after he was day trained. Jonathan on the otherhand, was out of pull-ups the day he night trained.

Being ready to go without a diaper at night/naps should be determined by the ability to stay dry, not waking because they are wet.

    I agree!

Both of mine are in underwear for a nap becuase they were waking up dry (in a diaper), but they are both still in a night time pull up for bedtime, they aren't ready to go that long yet.

So what would you ladies do everytime she wakes for a new diaper? She actually takes off her pants, takes off the diaper and throws it, then cries for a new one?

I would just put on a new diaper-kind of like you would do in the middle of the night when they were infants. I wouldn't talk to her, just matter of factly change it. She could simply be pulling off the diaper because she wants to delay sleep.

I would suggest letting her use the potty RIGHT before bed time, (which you are probably already doing if she is day trained) and when she wakes up wanting a new diaper, i would encourage her to try to use the bathroom on the toilet.. especially if it is every 20 minutes..im sure she can push out a little more after she wets her diaper..put a clean one on, and see if she can go longer if she tinkles a little in the potty.

Congrats on being day trained! Mine are the same age and not yet!

as always I should never underestimate dd! Today when my mom watched her she didn't pull her tricks, so I think she is playing me with the diaper removal. I will stay consistent of changing it quickly and putting her right back down!

OK, you will all probably think I'm horrible, but Bea would do this shortly after being day trained. She only did it after first going to bed, and naps were pretty much done by then. I just told her I wasn't changing her unless she pooped. Sorry, I wasn't going to waste three diapers/pull-ups within a one hour span just because she was goofing around. I knew she wasn't ready to hold it all night, she would wake up soaked. Those diapers can hold much more than one pee, and one pee that was probably on purpose.

If you are horrible, I guess I would be too! I haven't had this issue, but I would do the same.

I'd duct tape the diaper on! I'd be really mean. I have a hard time now putting a diaper on them for naps becuase most of the time they will wake up dry, but not consistently yet.
