Taht's great, i love how everyone but twin parents know EVERYTHING about twins...seems as if we just dont know enough about them and everyone else is just to educated on them. :umm:

:rotflmbo: It is so hard sometimes not to come back with a snarky response to people like that. I just try to be as nice as I can, even if I want to say something else.

Goodness.....I guess I am not the only one who has heard that one :rotflmbo: Some people forget that just because we are parents of twins that we are not a soundoff board for dumb questions and rude comments.

The one I DESPISE the most is......."Double Trouble" and "I bet you have your hands full" with a snicker.

I consider my guys a Double Blessing.....especially after the years fertility problems with endured.

People make me wonder sometimes. I got that same question while I was pregnant.

Same here! I get it all the time and now tell peole that "MY children are not trouble". That seems to shut them up. Why do people think its okay to say that someone elses children are trouble? I realize people think its cute, but they (people) need to stop and think about what they are saying. I really don't want my girls to get older and think they are trouble because people say stubid things without thinking.

Maybe they were having one of those moments! Lord knows I have them and what I want to say is not what I actually say. I always try to give the benefit of the doubt but sometimes there are some people and there is no hope! Just think of all of the good laughs and stories we will all have to tell that we wouldn't have if we didn't have twins!

That about tops the question I got at walmart yesterday! The lady asked if mine were Identical, and I said nope, Fraternal... she then proceeded to say, so what is it called when they are Identical?

I just kinda looked at her funny... and said, Um... Identical... she said, isn't there a technical term or something?

I think we all have to remember that sometimes when people make comments about your twins, even dumb or ignorant comments, they don't mean them to be rude. They probably dont realize how many comments you get on a daily basis. Sometimes people are curious or even envious. How many people have you met that say they always wanted twins? I think we should all just consider ourselves lucky that we do have twins are the focus of such attention. Those comments really dont bother me, sometimes I'm happy that my babies are noticed. And most of the time when we're out, people are always nice to remember big brother and say something to him too. I just wanted to say that people dont say things to be rude (except for a small minority), they're just curious. Weren't we all a little curious before we had twins?

Curious or not, if they tell me my kids are a bother (I've heard that one), it's tremendously rude. Other comments may not be, but some are, regardless of their intent. "Paternal" or identical isn't rude though (to me)...just funny. :D

My favorite since the babies is when people ask if they are identical and when I say No, they're actually a boy and a girl, they follow up with "I know, but are they identical?"

I actually get a kick out of the strange questions people ask - unless I'm really having a bad day.

Twins just fascinate people and they come up with anything possible to talk to you and steal a peak in your stroller. That doesn't make them less annoying at times, but most probably mean well.

We get that all the time & my dh just loves to come back with, "Yeah they're pretty much identical except one has a _blank_!" It's embarrassing.

I got the paternal question the other day....usually I just tell people, "No, they're fraternal" as if paternal is an option. :D

The only time I've ever gotten truly offended by a stupid comment was when they were still really little and a total stranger asked if they were twins & when I said yes she came over, started hugging me & said, "I'm so sorry!!" That WAS rude. Most of the time it's harmless & it seems like we're attracting less attention as they get older.

There is a technical term for IDs (monozygotic), but I don't even want to unleash that info on the public. It's bad enough to be asked if your twins are separate or conjoined.

I always get the oddest questions and assumptions while in the checkout line at Walmart...
One cashier asked me, "Oh, they are DYANICAL." I said that they were identical...she said, hmmph, they sure look Dyanical to me!

Yep, we've gotten the "are they maternal or paternal" question. What the HECK does that mean??? I just answer "they are fraternal" and that really throws them off!!!

I too have heard are they "paternal"? People are funny. The comment I hate the most is "Better you than me." I have answered back, "Yes, exactly."

I get asked if my b/g twins are identical all the time...the last time I got asked I got fed up and stated "not from the waist down" (nevermind that DS has blond hair and blue eyes and DD is a brunette with brown eyes)
