So, I pick the girls up yesterday and their teacher tells me that Emily has a little spot on her leg from the shots. No biggie, that always happens and I didn't think anything of it. The carseat strap and highchair straps did not bother her at all. Well...bath time and off come the pants and Holy Crap what the crap is on her leg??!?!?! Long story short, she'll be spending her second night in the hosp in Mt Holly. Rachel is a mess because she misses her sister and Emily is convinced she can get her iv out on her own...sheesh.

From her hip crease to her knee cap is swollen and hot to the touch. All the blood work came back ok but 24 hours of clindamycin have not helped, either. I'm pooped.

I hope everyone else managed to have a good Friday.

    Hi everyone-
Thanks for the kind words. We are home now - the swelling came down a LOT last night, so I asked for one more round of IV antibiotics so we didn't have to try and "give" it to her. We still don't know what caused it. The blood work has come back negative, so far and it still does not hurt her to touch it. Plus, everyone was a little stir crazy in the small room we were in.

All of the nurses were great and I guess the bottom line is that everyone is home and happy now (well, protesting a nap...).

I'm really glad she's doing so much better. I've never heard of that type of reaction to a vaccination. How scary!

I never have seen it, either. I've seen bumps that look like mosquito bites but nothing like this. The worst was when the dr said, "I'm confused - it shouldn't be hot but I don't know why it is". Bye-Bye and go and find the dr that I LOVE at that hospital and never come back. Oh well. I still have another day before the 72 hour smears are done so we'll see.

Off to costco - have a great day everyone!!!
