Okay so this is probably stupid, but.... whenever I give the boys a bath (which they still hate, is that going to change anytime soon????) and I rinse them, its with soapy water, will that bother their skin?? Because the water is soapy that they are in, should I be rinsing them with clean water??

Thanks for humoring a new mother lol :D

I rinse with soapy water but my babies really do not have sensitive skin. If they are sensitive I would run water in a cup and dump to rinse I guess. Really the less soap the better for baby skin... and we use lots of lotion. At our last appt the pedi told me my babies had beautiful skin so I guess I am doing things right!! LOL

Well, when I was my boys I have three cups of clean non soapy water. I was their front side and then rinse. Then flip them and wash their back side. Then I rinse the back and wrap them in a towel. Then lean back over tub and was hair and rinse with the third cup of water. I don't think the soapy water will hurt them if that's want you are comfortable with, but when my kids were in the NICU this is how the nurses tought me to do it so it just stuck!

My DD has really soft, beautiful skin and I do not really need to rinse her with any water other than the soapy water I am already using. My DS has very very sensitive skin and eczema so I take him out of the infant tub, place him on a foam bathing pad (babies r us) that I set on the counter and have a cup of lukewarm water waiting to dump over him. This also gives him another shot of warm water so getting out of the tub is not so traumatic. Then I wrap him really quickly and he is ready to go!

Mine did not like it for a little while either.

    Hi Shannon!

No question is stupid here! I have always just used the bath water to rinse them and never had a problem!

At that age, I barely used soap but always used the same water to rinse. One of my girls has sensitive skin but it has never caused a problem for us.

In the first few weeks, I rinsed with clean water. But now I don't bother. I don't use much soap anyway, since I bathe them more to relax them in the evening than for hygiene. No skin problems here!

I used to keep a bowl with clean water and at the end just use a cup and rinse over them, I never used much soap.

Even now the girls are four after their bath I get them to stand and I put clean warm water over them with a cup. Maybe its me I'm one of those people if I take a bath I have to shower after becoz I've been sat in the dirty water haha

I have never rinsed them with "clean" water and they have not had an issue with it. One of my DS' has a mild case of eczema and it really doesnt seem to bother it. They really just started liking the bath and they just turned 10 months today.
