Stuck in the hospital for the duration

I spent yesterday not feeling too hot and by 11pm was starting to have pretty regular contractions. When they were only getting worse by 2 am, i ended up in L&D. The dr checked my cervix and i was 3 cm dilated and my contractions were hitting 3-5 minutes apart, so they hooked me up to a mag drip and sent me in an ambulance to another hospital since my hospital wont deliver before week 35 and they didnt want to take any chances. Aside from making me really sick, the mag has been doing its job and my contractions have calmed down to every 30-45 mins now. The dr checked me again late this am and i was closer to 4 cm dilated. They told me that they'll keep me on the mag till tomorrow and i'll be in the hospital for at least the next week, ugh. 5 weeks strict bedrest straight to hospital bedrest, how i wanted to spend my days, lol. If my labor starts up, they have also decided to probably just let me go and deliver the boys. I got a growth scan today and both boys are measuring a week ahead (jonathan is about 4#13 oz) so that is reassuring and since i already had steroid shots 2 weeks ago, they feel pretty confident about the boys development. The peri here feels confident that if i deliver they will be able to turn jonathan after james is born and most of the drs here dont have an issue with breech extractions, so i may still get my vaginal birth. I'm trying to keep these boys cookin, but my body is flat out wearing out. I quite honestly feel like i'm falling apart. I just want 2 healthy lil boys.

They've got me hooked up to a magnesium drip for the contractions. 17 hours on it and counting. I can now see why women dont like having to be hooked up to the horrible stuff, ugh.

so i was hoping to get some rest tonight since i didnt sleep last night and they just got my blood panels back. Apparently within 6 hours i went from pretty darn anemic to scary low levels of o iron. So now i feel like something out of a scifi movie with ivs in both arms now pumping all sorts of different stuff through me along with other cords and machines hooked up. Glad they caught it as it got so low because the last thing i want is a blood transfusion because my iron was too low. As much as i'm not fond of the hospital, i think i'm glad i'm here cause obviously its where i need to be at the moment.

Poor thing. Good luck and hold those babies in as long as you can!! Every day that you are suffering is helping them, just remember that.

I was on magnesium for 2.5 days last week. It is horrible!!! I was just sooooooo hot. It was bearable when the room was 65 degrees. Then they moved me to another room and the air conditioner was broken and we couldn't get it lower than 72. I had ice cold washclothes on my face that I changed out about every 5 minutes. I was soooo happy to be off it. From what my doctor says, there isn't much use for it after 48 hours, so it should be temporary! ;) Good luck and hang in there.

Hang in one more week at least. I know the mag drip is awful I went through it at 33+ weeks (contractions were stopped). I delivered 3 weeks later. Lots of luck and best wishes heading your way!! :)

Figured i'd just put my latest update in the same post than start a new thread:
I went back into labor last night and had it stopped yet again (startin to wear me down, oy). They dont have me back on mag because at this point they dont think it will do much. My nurse was utterly convinced the twins were showing up last night, but looks like they're willing to wait. I'll admit i was a bit crushed today when i saw the dr and she confirmed that i will be here until the boys are born. She thinks i can make it a it longer, so we'll see. I've been on both an iron iv and taking iron pills during the day and my iron is still not wanting to go back up, so thats also been fun. Its tough only seeing my kids for such short times when they come to visit and they dont want to leave. I feel like i'm wearing thin. My contractions have been virtually nonexistent today so thats good. Each day is an adventure right?

    Jenn,

    You poor thing!

I am going to call you in the hospital tonight - maybe I'll come visit you Monday or Tuesday. Do you want me to bring you anything?

I know you are feeling really crummy right now and really exhausted, but if anyone can do it.....you can. Hang in there and keep those boys a cooking! Who knows....maybe they will hold out til my girls get here on the 17th...

Talk to you later. Keep your chin up girl!
