Ok, so I know this is rare but my twinks started to sleep consistently through the night (from 10:30pm to 6-7am) and have decided that they don't want to do that anymore. We went a good 3 weeks of them sleeping all night long and now, since they've hit the 3 month mark, they are getting up at 3-4am after getting fed their 10pm bedtime meal. So what gives? Is this a growth spurt? We are feeding them 5oz of formula mixed with rice cereal every 4 hours from the time that they wake up in the morning until 10pm at night. They are consistently cleaning out their bottles (granted there is a lot of drool/spit up but nevertheless...) so should I consider upping their 5ounce bottles to 6ounces? Do you think that would help them sleep a little longer at night? These 3 and 4am wake up calls are killing me.

So docs let you add cereal at 3 months? I'm so jealous! That is why they were close to STTN! Mine are same age and take 4.5 to 5.5 ounces each feeding and still get up at 130 am and 6 to 630am! Sorry no answers for you!I would guess growth spurt though. GL!

If your twins are CONSTANTLY cleaning out their bottles, why not try adding 1 oz more to see if they take it and eventually you will know the result whether they will SSTN or not. I never added cereals and my babies started SSTN at 4 months. So be patient. Good luck

If they are completely finishing 5 ounce bottles I would move up to 6 ounces. It probably is just a growth spurt though. If they are finishing their bottles at 3 am then they must be hungry. I wouldn't deny them the 3 am bottle even if you move up to 6 ounces.

If they are draining their bottles consistently like that, I would up the amount too. I also would keep feeding them overnight (as tough as it is) until they start not needing those feedings. I agree that it probably is a growth spurt.

My boys are 3.5 months and both of them are taking 6 ounce bottles and have been since 2.5 months. They are eaters! I have one that is sleeping through the night consistently and he is usually pretty active during the day...the one that sleeps more during the day is the one that will occasionally wake for a bottle at night.

I haven't really enforced a routine or schedule on them. They are two entirely different babies that want to do different things. It does make it a little more difficult to get things done but somehow I manage. I was more frustrated trying to get them onto the same schedule. One likes to eat every 3 hours while the other is more 3.5-4 hours. I try to keep them both at every 3.5 hours for bottles if they let me but they both feed within the same hour.

At 4 months mine were taking only 4 ounces and eating every 3-4 hours during the night (12-1 am and 3-4 am) so, for me, you are lucky. I'm still waking up at 5 to feed them because it's convenient for me. They sleep from 7 till 4:30 -5 am and they go back to sleep after I feed them until about 7-8am. But I plan to stop that soon.

If I remember correctly from a prior post, your LOs have refux. If that is correct, be careful increasing the amount of each feeding. Overfilling thier bellies can cause the reflux to be worse and make their sleep even worse than it is right now. 3 mths is typically the time for a growth spurt. You may just need to feed them once/twice at night for a week or 2 to get through the growth spurt and then they should go back to normal. With DS1, after starting to sleep through the night at 8 weeks, we would have to do this at each growth spurt. He had bad reflux and increasing his bottles during the day made the spit up and fussiness horrible. After a week or so, he would go back to his normal schedule. Good Luck!
