My DD & DS are 5 mo/4 mo adjusted. I've been trying hard to keep them on a schedule with suggestions from HSHHC since they will be starting daycare shortly. Our general routine is:

6 am wake up, 7 oz bottle (need this wake up time in order to get them to daycare and me to work on time)
    7:30 am 1st nap--1 1/2 to 2 hr nap
    10 am 7 oz bottle
    11 am 2nd nap--1 1/2 to 2 hr nap
    2 pm 7 oz bottle
    2:30 pm 3rd nap--1 1/2 to 2 hr nap
    6 pm 7oz bottle
    6:30 pm bed time

DD & DS are only able to stay up about 1-1/2 hours at a time between naps. When does the wake duration begin to lengthen?

Both generally STTN pretty well; however, for the past week either DD or DS--sometimes both will wake up around 3 am. No crying...just babbling and a little fussing and will eventually go back to sleep. Neither DH or I enter their room at that time. Will they outgrow this waking? Should I adjust my schedule?

First time mom...still trying to get the hang of these guys! TIA!!

I think the time b/w naps lengthens around 6 months old. I wouldn't worry about that wake-up in the night if they are just babbling and not fussing. It sounds like you have an awesome routine down and that they are sleeping very well!

your schedule is very similar to ours and our LOs are very close in adjusted age. we're also experiencing the middle of the night babbles. i'm definitely curious to know whether this will pass.

tihs is our schedule (we do daycare so we have similar time requirements)

6:30 am wake up - 6 oz bottle (to be honest we should be getting up earlier but i keep hitting snooze)
    7:30/8:00 am - 1st nap, appx 1 - 1 1/2 hrs
    10 am - 6 oz bottle
    10:30 - 2nd nap, 45 mins - 1 1/2 hrs
    1:30 - 6 oz bottle
    2:00 - 3rd nap, 45 mins - 1 hr
    5:00 - 6 oz bottle
(catnap somewhere between 4:30 and 5:30, around feeding)
6:15 - 6 oz bottle (i call this one the "cluster feed")
    6:30 - bedtime

naps would probably be more regular if they were home but the grim reality of daycare is that they sleep when they sleep so we only get approximate durations on our daily reports. they fall into the same routine on weekends so we just try to make sure they're definitely getting the maximum sleep time they can get when they're home. we're trying to follow HSHHC but when your child is in the care of a provider during the day and that provider isn't exclusively serving your children, it can be difficult to make sure it's happening the way the book outlines. because there are other children there, there isn't necessarily someone who can dedicate 100% of their attention to watch closely for that first quiet moment that signals the beginning of a nap cycle, and they can't always take 30 minutes to soothe down for a long nap because there are other children in need. they do their best and it is what it is. ultimately it works because our guys are happy and meeting their developmental milestones and they're sleeping a pretty solid 12 hours every night (except for sunday nights, which are always hard for some reason).

Wow, it sounds like you're doing everything right. I wish my schedule looked that good, and I only have 1 right now to worry about. My little guy can only stay up 1 to 1 1/2 hours and naps a max of 1 hour at a time, and STTN is pitifully rare. Be glad its working and keep up the good work. I use HSHHC, too, but you can only force a routine so much with little ones this small. PRetty much, they run the show.

wow! sounds like you guys are doing great. i wouldn't worry too much about them waking up at night if they aren't upset. it sounds like they're doing an awesome job of soothing themselves back to sleep.

their awake window will gradually lengthen as they get older. if you'd like to test out if they're ready for a longer awake window you can always try shifting their naps back in 5 or 10 minute increments every couple of days & see how they do. i also know some ladies who leave naps as they are until their LOs start to fight the naps & then they move them back. GL!

It sounds like you are doing a great job! I would stick w/ your schedule! Typically around 6months they will stay up longer betwen naps and you can drop one.

You are doing a great job Momma! They will probably drop a nap when they hit 6 months and be awake more. I wouldn't adjust the schedule for this night waking...it sounds like they are able to soothe themselves back to sleep, which is awesome!
