Ok, I'm new to bottlefeeding (son is refusing to nurse so I am pumping). It is amazing how much he will drink from a bottle and how hungry he is!!! :shok: Anyway, whether he drinks 3 ounces of 6 ounces at bedtime he still wakes with a wet sleeper! He has been sleeping all night, but even if he wakes 3-4 hours early (perhaps because of diaper), he is soaked. I am using cloth diapers and did stuff some extra stuffing in there last night, but same result. :( I am going to try disposies tonight to see if there is a difference, but I'm guessing he will blow them out too!

:help: Any suggestions? What do you do when they start sleeping through the night and overflowing their diaper?

I've heard maxipads work great when added to a diaper. But I've never tried it.

    Good luck!

as for cloth diapers... you really have to make sure that the elastic still is fully around their legs when you stuff extra in there... we noticed that when we bicycled the babies' legs there were huge gaps... and if they happened to be sleeping funny when they peed, it would just come right out. you might actually need to take something out so that the legs fit better... and then whatever you have in there will be fully soaked but not overflowing?

I sew, and have made extra inserts to put in our cloth diapers... the bamboo fabric I have is very interesting... I kind of like it and kind of not... it gets really stiff... very weird... but it does seem to absorb so I try to mix in one layer of a bamboo liner with a microfiber (in our bumgenius)... I have some drybees pocket diapers too... but am not as thrilled with them, as I ordered Large... and they are too big for either baby...

    good luck.

maybell had a good suggestion there

what I wanted to say is that we intermittently go through these phases-- I think it's partially growth-related- as they adjust to new amounts of food and what's coming in or needs to go out, etc-- it seems like it'll be that way for a week (lots of bleary-eyed sheet & pj changing) and then it just stops-- and won't happen again for a while. it still happens to my 4yr old from time to time (much less often!)

so- I'd try what maybell said and also hold out some hope that it'll resolve in a little bit, too.

good luck, wish it was more concrete.

How about using a larger size Huggies Overnite for the nighttime?

I'm not sure how opposed you are to non-cloth diapers, but first of all, I second the Huggies Overnights, but I saw diaper doublers the other day at Babies R Us. Can you put one (two) of those in his diaper?

We ended up giving up on night time cloth diapers for this reason. Just too much pee at nighttime, no matter what combination we used... and I think I tried everything! The disposables seemed to hold it much better, though I must say that regular brands like Pampers/Huggies seem to fit better and hold better than the "natural" brands like Tushies or Seventh Generation.

Good luck - wishing you many dry nights! :D

We use the Pampers Extra Protection or the Huggies Overnights for nighttime diapers....the overnights run small so go up one extra size from the normal diaper size he uses...

The best night diaper for us is Huggies Natural fit, supremes. The redish maroon package.
