I'm so tired!! I was just wondering about how much your baby/babies weighed when they started sleeping through the night (STTN). I've heard there is an approximate number and hope we're getting close!

    Thanks!

It could be just me but it seemed to happen at 18lbs. James started STTN as soon as he hit 18lbs but Jack is now 18lbs and still wakes up once so I don't know if there is a magic number but things started getting a lot better in the last month. I really hope you get some relief soon, I totally know how you feel.

Mine didn't until we did sleep training at 11 months and they were 20lbs.

I don't remember the weights, although I think we were around 14-16lbs? Emma slept through at 4 months, and Jake at 6. I had to do CIO with Jake though.

I bet you are tired Megan!! :hug99: How big are they now?

My two STTN (7am to 7pm) at 7 months. They were each over 15lbs (they were 15lbs each at 6 months old) Before then they would each wake for a bottle at least once a night.

Mine didnt start STTN until they were almost 9 months old. They were well over the 11 or so pounds that all the books say. I just think they will do it when they are ready or with a little "help" from you. We were in the same boat as you with the prematurity issue and the elongated sleep deprivation. It will get better, just know that!! :hug99:

Mine started at 3 mo and 3 1/2 mo. They were only 12lb 8 oz and 12 lb 4 oz at 3 mo appt. This was about 8-9 hours. BY 4 mo my DD was going 12 hours. and weighed 13 lb 8 oz. You should be almost there.

They slept 8 hours at 5 weeks and 5 hours the day they came home from the hospital.

We babywised them from day 1

My son STTN when he was 11 pounds. Maybe 10. He is an excellent sleeper. DD, on the other hand, took until she was 15 pounds. Not too bad...They are awake almost all day though ;)

We have those nights...some 5 hours some 11 hours...just depends. They started when they were 10 lbs and they are still not consistent but we almost always go at least 5 hours and we are at 12.5 lbs now.

Katie was 9-10 pounds when she started sleeping through. I have always heard that their weight has nothing to do with their sleeping through. Its when their nervous systems are completely complex.

    That's what I've heard too, that it's a brain thing, not a weight/stomach thing.

I have no idea how big they were, but it was a little after 4 months that they dropped the 4am bottle and slept from 12am to between 6 and 7 am. GL!

One twin started sleeping 11-7 by 10 weeks and she was about 11-11 1/2 lbs. The other twin started sleeping 11-7 by 11 weeks and she weighed around 10 lbs. By 5 months they were sleeping 8/8:30-8/9:00 and we are still on the same schedule at 10 months.

Thanks ladies! We had our 4 month appt yesterday and the doc said they should begin sleeping more within a month. They weigh 10 1/2 and 11 1/2 now. You've all given me the hope I needed! THANK YOU!

mine were 6 mos on the nose and had had only a brief, one night try at CIO. They weighed . . . (oh my, I should remember this . . . but i don't exactly) 14-16 lbs each.

UGH! Nothing has changed! Should I start weening their feedings at midnight? They are taking 2 3 hour naps during the day and are extremely fussy if they don't. I'm starting to doubt that philosophy "sleep begets sleep".

It did make me feel better though to see that some take until 6 months. Maybe I'll just revel in my routine. :) Thanks for the vent!

Mine started sleeping through the night almost a month ago. They go 10-12 hours at night. It's weird because we were doing a dreamfeed before we went to bed and then they would go 5-6 hours and then another 3-4 hours. We decided to drop the dreamfeed and put them to bed a little earlier and they started sleeping through the night 10-12 hours! I guess it's true ... sleep begets sleep! We were very lucky that they both did this at the same time as they share a room. We've only had a handful of nights were one of the babies wakes up and needs comforting, but neither of them has had a middle of the night bottle in almost a month.

(((HUGS))) ... I hope you get some sleep soon!

My oldest slept 12 hours straight at 3 months (about 10 hours straight at 2 months). She was 13lbs10oz at 2 months (95%).

My twins have been early risers, however, they were pretty good as well (not as good). My twin girl slept 8-10 hours straight at 6 weeks (she was 11lbs12oz at 2 months). My boy took a little longer, he had reflux issues as well (spitting up blood). But he got it down at around 5-6 months. Their weights are in my siggy. They're above average as well.

Oh yeah ... you asked for weights too! Mine were between 12-15 lbs. It's only been going on for a few weeks so I'm hesitant to  :a_smil09:  .

How do you know when it's time to drop a feeding?? We've been getting our boys to bed by 7:30-8:00 every night, they wake at midnight to eat and then they might wake again at 2:30 or 3:00, it could be 4:00. Once they have that midnight feeding, it seems to go downhill. Any suggestions??

Avarey started sleeping throught the night at 1 1/2 months and Aubrey started at 4 months old.
Avarey will sleep from 9 pm to 8 am and Aubrey will sleep from 9:30 to 6 am and dream feed, go back to sleep until about 9 am.
