Ok I have been struggling with this issue since I had my DS over 2 years ago. It is kind of a long explanation but I will try and shorten it as much as possible. In the baby books they have the family tree which should be a easy thing to fill out but here is where I get stuck. My “biological father” and my mom divorced when I was two months old. After that I think I might of seen him twice before he passed away when I was 7 (the only cards or gifts I got from him were from his mom with his name put on them and he never called etc.) The man I consider my father was in my life from the time I was 2 until his death when I was 17. To me he is the only dad I ever had. In fact if I acknowledge my “real” father it is only as the sperm donor because to me that is all he was. I know he died when I was young but he had time and he didn’t use it.
So now (finally) to the question. I don’t know who I should use in the grandpa section of the babies books. In fact that section is still blank in my DS book. I am just curious to everyone’s thoughts on this topic. As you can see it has troubled me for a while.
I had my ultrasound today to check growth. I don’t know if my cervix was good and wont find out info like that until I see my doctor again in two weeks, but both babies were active and have gained weight, at my last ultrasound both weighed 1lb 1 oz. This time baby A was 2lb 2 oz and baby B was 1lb 15oz.I know for sure that baby B was the cause of my rib pain. Baby has feet in my ribs and was nice enough to kick while we were looking. Aside from that, so far so good I hope..

I would put the man who you considered your father. The "sperm donor" information is only relevant for medical reasons, but when it comes to something like a baby book, I would put who raised you. If you wanted you could paperclip a (or make a side note) the information about your bio dad. HTH!

This is difficult... if the man you considered to be your father were alive it would be an easy choice...you'd put him in there.... but since they are both deceased I think it's a hard call... Maybe put in the one you considered to be your father then the biological father in parentheses??... So difficult. If you just want to do one I'd probably favor the one who you considered to be your father..and perhaps give the kids the biological information later in life if they are really doing a family tree or something like that....

glad your babies are doing well...

For baby books...definitely the man that you consider your father, not the sperm donor.

I would totally use the man you consider your father. Just because he is not your bio father doesnt make him less of a father figure to you!
My Dad is adopted and i asked him once if he would ever want to meet his "real" parents.. He said i already know my real parents..
