Hey everyone, I’ve been clean for about six months now, but lately I’ve been getting hit hard with cravings again. It’s like out of nowhere, and it scares me because I thought I was past this phase. Is this normal? How do you all deal with it when it creeps back in like this?

Cravings can absolutely come back when you least expect them, even after months of feeling stable. It’s frustrating and disheartening, especially when you feel like you’ve made progress. I remember diving into research to understand if I was actually craving or just obsessing — I found this really helpful article that explained the difference between feening vs fiending and it gave me better insight: https://unitedrecoveryproject.com/rehab-blog/feening-vs-fiending/. That resource helped me put words to what I was going through. Along with that, talking to a counselor and keeping my support group close made a difference. It’s not about being perfect — it’s about noticing the signs and having tools ready. You’ve made it six months, and that’s no small thing. Don’t be afraid to lean into support now just as you did at the beginning.
