So I started shopping for a stroller. This is harder than buying a car! I need some opinions.
So I know I need to get a jogging/all terrain stroller because I live in an area with lots of wooded parks with hiking trails that I plan to take the twins on next summer, also we don't have sidewalks everywhere that I want to stroll.
Is it worth spending the $600 or so to get a Mountain Buggy or a Valco Runabout? They look like great strollers, but at that price I'm wondering if the difference between them and some of the less expensive models is that great. Anyone have an all terrain stroller they'd like to recommend?
Also, I think I'll need to get a double umbrella for mall trips, something light. i don't really want to drag a huge all-terrain stroller through the food court. I'm thinking of the Inglesina Twin Swift. Anyone have opinions on this?

I think your thoughts are right on. I have a Valco double and while I've used it shopping (Kmart, Target, the grocery) and it's great for that I wouldn't want to drag it out for quick in-and-out errands. For that I use an older Maclaren twin stroller. I don't know anything about the ingelsina, if the seats recline flat or almost flat it should be fine for your babies.

But the Valco would be fab for anything outdoors except serious jogging. The trimode swivel wheels make it possible to use it on rougher terrain and switching them to the swivel mode makes it easy to navigate stores, etc.

    Good luck!

I have the BOB Dualie Revolution. It is a great jogging/all terrain stroller. I got it on sale for about $425. I would have loved to get a MBUD but I just couldn't fork over the extra $200 for it. For a double umbrella stroller I got the Combi Twin Savvy for about $200. It is super light and easy to take in and out of the car. The BOB would be a beast to lift in and out.

i love my baby jogger city series. Cant say enough about it. I must admit though- i have not taken it into the mall. i think i will need a lighter stroller for those kinds of outings but i love taking the baby jogger for walks. it is so easy to push- you really can use one finger to push. i went into it looking at the MB but after some research found the MB was more expensive and heavier and took up more truck space. THe BJCS has a patent (sp??) for their folding mechanism. You can fold it in one step! their web site is: http://babyjogger.com/

I bought a safetech double jogging stroller off of ebay for around $150.00. I walked two miles a day with it and took it on gravel and on the sand and it was great. Bulky when it is folded, but was cheaper than any other stroller and works great!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I really like how the baby jogger folds, it's so neat!

It's also good to know that some of you had good experiences with some of the more affordable jogging strollers and I don't have to spend a small fortune to get something that will do the job

Also consider this a bump, I'll take as many suggestions as you all have

We are using the Graco duo glider... I love it...

I didn't get mine until they were a little older than yours... but the seats recline back... so I think they would work for littler ones as well.

Something to consider on the Baby Jogger: it has no strap or clip to hold it closed once it's folded, also the seats fold outward, towards potential dirt and damage. Still a very nice stroller tho

I've heard good things abotu the Safetech however the company is out of business, a problem if you encounter any problems with it.

    HTH!

I love our Mountain Buggy Urban Double -- however, I got it used for $350 so I didn't bear the full sticker shock. I think it would have been worth it for $600, but obviously that's just out of range for many people. It does totally rock, though. I took it out two days after we had 2 feet of snow and we walked for almost 2 hours.

We have an Instep Safarii TT that I love but it is too wide to fit through some doors. If I were you, I'd look for a double jogging stroller that will fit through doors. If you can find one with a wheel that both locks and swivels, that would be ideal because you'll want the swivel when you use the stroller inside and you may want the locked front wheel on some terrain. If you are not jogging, a swivel front wheel would probably work for all your walks & hiking.

With a swivel wheel and the right width, you will only need one stroller and won't have to also spend a lot of money on a double umbrella.

I have the 2006 BOB duallie revolution jogger. It is on sale at joggingstroller.com and free shipping. It is awesome--swivel front wheel which I think is crucial for walking and/or running, fits through a standard doorway, individual canopies that completely protect them from sun. It is worth every penny!!! I live in a rural area and use this everyday to walk or run with mine. Whatever jog stroller you get, you should put slime in the tubes of the tires so you don't have to worry about getting a flat while your out. You can get it at any bike shop and it is super easy to put in. For trips to stores etc. I have a Maclaren rally twin which is also wonderful--folds easy, manuevers well with one hand as I push the stroller and pull a grocery cart and will fit in the trunk of our sedan with plenty of extra room for groceries!
