I saw Overachiever's successful walk (yay!) and it got me thinking...what is the benchmark for using upright strollers? Right now I have the Graco DuoRider.

We are seeing the pedi on May 1st - but I'm anxious to see if they like the view better from the other stroller and don't want to wait.

    Thanks.

We were in infant carseats for a very long time. Around 6-7 months we changed to "regular" strollers and sat more upright.

Your babies are pretty young, so you probably don't need to switch them until they have more control of their upper bodies. I have the duorider as well, but we didn't get it until the girls were about 1 year old. Since it doesn't have midway points, you might want to leave them laying down for a bit longer.

Some other strollers might give them more head support and have a 5 point harness so they don't tip over when they are sitting upright more.

I still have the duorider, but only used it when the girls were older.

I would just give it a try and see if they like it! We were mostly in the infant carseats until 7 months.

We did it at approx 7 or 8 months.

Ours didn't like reclining as much as they do in the infant seats. So, around 5 months, I tried it without the seats and they loooved it! I now use a jogger stroller and a side by side double umbrella stroller (with slight reclining feature) too and they love these too. Give it a try.

3 months here too, probably closer to 4 I don't really remember. My jogger doesn't take infant seats and the pavement around my development is very broken in some places because of the snow plowing. We couldn't go for a walk with the Snap 'n Go because I felt like it was going to tip and the ride was very bumpy. I put them in the jogger with the seats reclined and they did great. I think it depends how well they can sit and how good their head control is.

Many strollers recommend that the babies be 6 months before you use them. We moved from the infant seats at 6.5 months because they had outgrown with height. I think it depends on the recline and safety features on your stroller - if you have a reclining capability with a 5-point safety harness, it would probably be ok to use them earlier than 6 months.

My babies are almost 5 months old and lately we have been putting them in stroller umbrellas or the duo glider. They can't sit up on their own yet but have pretty good control of their necks. They love the strollers because they can see and it seems to keep them happier longer. We also have snap n go but they don't seem to last as long in it because they can't see and get sick of being in their car seats.

Try out the stroller. If they like it, use it. Do what works for your babies.

My kids are still getting used to sitting facing forward (8 mos old) and not having me to look at. It has made our walks a little hard as the boys need to see me and get antsy -- we didn't go to the new stroller until 7 mos - essentially when they were on the borderline of outgrowing their buckets. I think car seats wise, it's best to keep babies in the infant seats as long as they can stay in them. It also makes trips tot he Dr alone much easier than with other seats.
