So, my two are already so long that we have to switch them to their convertible car seats very soon. This means we will be relying on a stroller to get them around instead of just being able to carry them in their carriers. Currently we have been using our snap n go, but obviously we need to use something else now. We have a Peg Perego double stroller that was given to us gently used and it seems pretty nice, but we want to have 2 strollers so that we can keep one in the car and one in the house. My DH is home with the babies so weight of the stroller is not an issue, but it needs to be one that is easy to fold and set up and also one that is comfortable for tall people to push (he is 6'5"). So my questions are:

    - What stroller do you recommend or discourage and why?

    - Do you think side by side or front/back design is better?

    - What features do you think are a necessity in a stroller...he will be wanting to use it for walks and outings to the zoo, park, etc.

    - Anyone have the Peg Perigo and what do you think of it?

I don't think we need the fanciest...I'd prefer not to have to pay for the high end if there is something good in the middle price range.

TIA...they grew so much faster than I expected they would...silly tall babies! :faint:

i don't recommend tandem strollers, we have the graco duoglider that we are trying to get rid of. it supposed to work for older kids too as a sit and stand but we got it for the purpose of snapping the car seats directly into the stroller but now that the kids are too big for the infant carrier i am strapping them into the stroller and they still kick eachother. the front seat has very little head/neck/body support and the straps to buckle them in are super unsafe, IMO, easily undone. it was a nice beginners stroller but not once the kids' get to a certain age/size.

    see above

it depends, are the walks on concrete or on grass type areas? an all terrain type of jogger SBS stroller might be more of what your DH is looking to use. i hear they are very heavy and can't fit through most doors but if the plan is to use it for the sole purpose of outings and not errands that i would try and find something that's more all terrain.

as for necessity items, i like cup holders for the kiddos and some type of underneath storage area, not necessarily for a diaper bag, lord knows ours are huge, but something that can hold a blanket or some toys for when you stop at the park for a little playtime.

    - Anyone have the Peg Perigo and what do you think of it?

no, i'v heard EXCELLENT things on the combi twin sport SBS so that's what i have recently ordered...of course it's not here yet so i can't tell you how i like it but everyone i've talked to about it loves it.

For us it was important to have large sun canopies so babies could be protected during outings. Also a side by side because I hear a lot of reports about kids fighting later of who will sit in the front or knickers each other. Side by side is easier to drive and specially during winter or on the grass in the park.

We have Baby Jogger City Miny Double with very large sun canopies. My husband also loves it ( he is 6'3 ) and I love it because it has quick fold technology and weighs very light so I can get it in and out of the jeep very easily.

My only complaint is that most double strollers don't have a really big under basket.

Wanted to add that our stroller is a money sucker though - we had to buy parent console, belly bar, child trays all in addition to an already expensive (though great) stroller.

If he wants to use a stroller outdoors, definitely get a jogger stroller. I love to take walks with mine. We live on a dirt road, so the terrain is rough and those big wheels just glide right on over all the potholes and rocks. The only downside about side by side strollers is that they take up a lot if space. You can't really go anywhere indoors (at least not with mine). As pp said, there is little storage with the jogger types.

I have spent MANY hours searching for the right stroller for our LO's. We now have a side-by-side for outdoors and an Eddie Bauer(sp?)lightweight tandem for indoors.

I love our Baby Jogger City Classic double jogger. The handlebar easily adjusts up or down for your height and the canopies are huge and can block sun regardless of the direction its coming from. The seats recline way back and are very long, so will last quite a while for tall toddlers. Its easy to fold up (once its broken in) but it is still bulky when folded, but fits fine in our RAV4. We bought it a few months ago when they were on sale for $400 (usually $600 I think). A big investment but we plan to use heavily (at the mall, Target, park,,etc) for the next 3 years.

    GL!

I am not a fan of our duoglider either, we love our valco but wouldn't have gone that expensive if we didn't need the toddler seat attachment. It does push like a dream with all 3 kids in it!!!!

And the handle is adjustable which would be handy for your taller hubby. Good luck deciding!
