Stripping membranes

I was wondering how many of you got your membranes stripped and if you actually went into labor because it was done. The dr. did that to me today hoping labor will start. I'm hoping this as well and wanted to hear any stories you may have.

I did with DD. Of course it didn't feel great, but it was successful. I had it done in the office about 3:00 and had DD before midnight, so I'd say it worked for me! It was basicly like a "rough" vag exam with a lot of pressure on the cervix when I had mine done. I don't know if it is different with different drs, so I'd like to hear other stories if anyone else had it done.

I had my membranes stripped with my son at 38 weeks by my midwife. Again at 39 weeks by the OB. At 40 weeks there was nothing left to strip. He was 5 days late. I guess it doesn't always work. Doesn't mean it won't, but it didn't seem to do anything for me, except to make me uncomfortable while the person did it. Don't want to get you down, but just letting you know.

 

I had my membranes stripped with my oldest DD at 40w and didn't go into labor with her until a week later. <_< So it didn't work for me that time.

Exact same here. And ouch! It hurt. I wasnt expecting that one.

 

Yes at 38 weeks with my DD. Didn't feel real great and for me it didn't work either. I hope it does for you though. Good luck
