I had started potty training my DD several weeks ago and stopped when she started throwing completely drama-queenish tantruming fits when I would try and sit her on the potty.

When should I try again? Give it several weeks, months, or what?

Also, we will be going on vacation in about 3 weeks. Driving for 13 hours over 2 days (5 hours one day and 7 hours the next). Should I wait and try to potty train after the trip?

Let me know what you think! Thanks!!

I would most definitely wait until after your trip. Beyond that, I'd wait til maybe 2.5 if she's showing signs of wanting to do it. Otherwise, closer to 3 has been much easier in my experience. Tantrums about trying to go potty is a pretty good sign she isn't ready.

Is she showing any signs of being ready? I would wait for her cues and go from there. Each kid is different -- for example, my DS trained himself at <2.5 and had maybe 3 accidents total [4 and still wears diaper at night] vs. DD who did not train until just over 3, but within a day or two was totally diaper free.

I too, would wait until after your trip. I wouldnt want to have to be PTing while driving all that way. It would make me  I would say wait a couple of months and give it another try. There is nothing wrong with giving it a try to see if she has outgrown the tantrums.

When we stopped, we waited a month or so and then tried again...which it was very successful the second go around.

    Definately after your trip! :good:

My personal experience was that my dd was not ready, ready until she was closer to three. But I did try every few months once she turned two. You never know when they're ready. She wasn't ready when she seemed ready and when I thought it wouldn't work, it worked.

    That's what I was thinking....after the trip!!

As far as her signs for being ready, she seemed ready. She was even interested in sitting on the potty and would go when I sat her there UNTIL....I actually started trying to train her and being more consistant with taking her.

I'd wait until after that trip. I gave it a try every 3-4 weeks.

Laura, I am glad you are going to wait. I would have been on the wait bandwagon too!

My kids sat on the toilet to be like us. They didn't really know what they were doing. So it was just for fun. Let her keep it fun for her and you'll have more success when she's ready!!!
