I may be crazy for asking this but my lack of knowlegde about bfing is why I stopped in the first place. I stopped bfing about 3 wks ago, I am really really missing it and kicking myself in the arse for stopping. I'm almost in a slight depression b/c I gave up on it so easily and not b.c the boys didn't get the hang of it but b/c of my selfish self. Is there any way we can start back up w. it?? Even if it's only 2 times a day or something? I am not leaking but if I squeeze milk will still come out. Would I be wasting my time even trying to get my milk supply up again?

Just wanted to add that if this can be done I would not attempt to bf for their meals at first, I would start by doing it between feedings when they wouldn't be so hungry and it wouldn't really matter how much they got to start out w/ and hopefully they wouldn't get frustrated .

From what I understand, it is possible, and IMO you wouldn't be wasting your time at all. Some bm is better than no bm, right?

Here is a site to help you:
    http://www.kellymom.com/bf/supply/relactation.html

And there's more info through kellymom if you type "relactation" or "induced lactation" into the search box.

I would recommend investing in a good pump, if you don't already have one. It will make this transition much, much easier for you.

Don't kick yourself too much. Bfing isn't always the easiest thing to do, and it can be easy to get discouraged. You're a great mommy for wanting to give it another chance. Good luck!

I am going to move this post to the breastfeeding forum. You will get some great advice over there!

You can always start up again. I've even heard stories of non-birthing moms (surrogate or adoptive) even managing to bf! Every little bit helps , even if it's mainly just for the bonding time with the babies. Just make like you're starting over - offer breast first, then suppliment as needed. Use methods (SNS, habermans, etc) that continue to foster nursing even if they're being supplimented. Good luck!

absolutely!! it sounds like you stil have milk, and your babies are young enough that they should be able to pick it back up *fairly* easily, especially if it has only been a few weeks. if they can latch, you can nurse. put them to the breast as often as they will tolerate without getting frustrated. good luck mama!! keep us updated! :D

did you give it a try today?

Thanks ladies!! I did try it lastnight and one took to it for a little bit, the other got a little cranky. I have more milk than I thought, I actually got some to squirt out instead of just trickling. We will try again today.

I just wanted to add some words of encouragement! I'm so happy to hear you still have milk - just try it regularly and soon you'll be nursing again - I'm excited for you!
