We have the monitor still in our room...the girls sleep from 8Pm to about 6am . BUt I wake up at every noise they make and then it's hard to get back to sleep. I want to sleep better, but I am nervous about taking the monitor out of the room......

when did/are you taking your monitor out or shutting it off at night?

    TIA

I have never used a monitor at night just for that very reason! I am a light sleeper and would hear every little noise that they made! I figure that if they really need me, I will definately hear them!

I still use one and probably will for a while. I am a light sleeper as well but have become used to the little noises and now sleep right through them. I only hear if they cry out. I think it may help that we also use a white noise machine so that tends to drown out the little groans and normal movement.

I still use one as well, and dont plan to take it away until they are at least 3. I use one downstairs during their naps and one in my bedroom at nite. I have fine tuned mine so that every little sound I dont hear, but if they do a *need* me sound, I will hear it. Usually I sleep all nite through until they wake me up in the morning with their talking....

I used one with my girls (the first 4mths and I barely slept since I heard every noise) but for my son I never bothered. I can hear everything from both their bedrooms since they are both right next to mine. If you are worried about them waking up and you not hearing them can you move the monitor in you room. Put it farther away so you don't hear every little noise they make but if they cry you will be able to hear them?

We used the monitor for about 6 months...so, we've had it off for about 2 mos. We sleep much better!! DH wanted to shut it off a long time ago, but I wouldn't do it. Now, instead of hearing every little sound they make we only hear when they are really awake and need something. When the monitor was on I would run in at every little sound and 80% of the time they weren't even really awake (just making noise as they moved, etc)...but I WAS awake. Our room is very close to DDs so we don't have a problem hearing them if we keep our door open. I do still use the monitor if I'm downstairs and they are upstairs though (nap-time, etc).

Our guys were preemies and when they were little they grunted ALL the time. The grunting bothered me to no ends, so we just turned off the monitor. Our rooms are close enough that if I hear them cry, I can get up. Our monitor has a light that lights up if there is any loud noise in the room. So if they are crying, all I have to do is look at the monitor to see if I need to get up or not.

I turned ours off a couple of months ago. I wake up with every grunt. We have the angelcare monitors so we have the sensors for motion. We leave the doors open so we can hear if they get fussy and I can hear them in the morning.

Well, our 3 year old still have hers in her room, but it is never on unless she is ill. Our twins one is on every night still, but I turn the sound all the way down and can see the lights if I wake up and think it's them. More lights = louder crying. We sleep on the first floor, kids on the second, and if the A/C is running, you can't hear them unless they are out of control screaming.

I also still use one. I like being able to hear everything and some days I'm so tired that I would be afraid that I could totally sleep right through something. There have been times when I could hear my dd making a certain sound that she is going to throw up and I can run in there with a towel or t-shirt and catch her before she pukes all over her bed. I just like having it. Sometimes we go in the back yard while they are napping during the weekends so I wouldn't be able to hear anything without it. We also have an upstairs/downstairs so when we have the t.v. on while they are sleeping you can't really hear them. At times, I still HATE the monitor and there are times I want to bash the thing against the wall but overall I feel safer having it. I don't see us getting rid of it for a long while.

We never really used ours because I couldn't sleep listening to all of their noises. I would say turn it off if you can hear them cry from their room to yours. You need a good nights sleep!

I stopped using our monitor at night last week. I feel SO MUCH better! Yeah! I really recommend it. You'll hear them if they need you (I do).

I turned mine down really low & used the one that had lights. That way if I woke up thought it was the babies I could see the lights or not.

Our master suite is on the other side of the house so I still use the monitor. I keep it low and hear them if they are distressed which rare now. I also have cameras on each crib that if there is a problem I turn them on and check out the situation before I get up since we do CIO. I think because we are on the other side of the house I will continue to use a monitor for a LONG time. It is just in my nature. But, since we are back on CIO and they can put themselves down and do not stress about the few times I may wake up.

I dont use mine much since both babies are still in our room. :) However i will once i move them (attempting it this weekend) as they are on the opposite side of the house. :( I hate that and its the reason i have yet to move them.
