Hi - I'm just wondering if anyone knows what this could be. My 2 year old has had a rash on his tummy for several days now. He itches it but does not seem really annoyed by it. He has had no fever and is acting normal. Any ideas? Thanks, Mary

More often than not you will never know what causes a rash. If it is new and isn't spreading I would give him some benedryl and apply hydrocortisone cream if needed.

    Hope it clears up fast!

Has he been wearing pants with metal snaps or buttons? If so, and the snap or button touches his skin, it could be a nickel allergy. All my kids have it. It's more of a nuisance than anything. We keep it moisturized, use a little cortizone for the itching, etc... If you make sure he has no snaps or buttons touching his skin for a few days and it clears up, put clear fingernail polish on the back of all the buttons on his pants. It helps prevent the contact.

Funny you ask this. My 5 year old came home from school with a rash on her stomach Wednesday. It wasn't there Tuesday, but I don't know about Wednesday morning because she got dressed by herself. It's itchy, and hasn't gone away yet. She hasn't worn anything new, and the rash isn't just in one spot, there's a few spots of the raised redness with no definite shape. It's not getting worse, but it's not getting better either. I'm calling the doctor tomorrow to see if she needs to come in.

Have you changed soap, shampoo, laundry detergent or dryer sheets? I break out from tide and bounce and my girls can't use Johnson and Johnson shampoo and body wash. Johnson and Johnson also make the Target brand.

That's a good suggestion, Annie. (BTW I deleted your duplicate post) I did change laundry detergents, but washed her clothes Sunday night and the rash showed up Wednesday. And she's been wearing clothes washed in the same soap since then and it hasn't gotten worse.
