So my little ones are puking and pooping just as fast as I fill them up! [IMG] It was a really long night! I looked and looked in the baby isle and found nothing for babies their age to help their tummys. Is there any remedies out there that you have tried to help with the puking? I have childrens pepto tablets. I broke one in half and crumbled it and they each ate one...no puke yet since 6:30am. Today, Gabe is running a low fever too. He looks just pitiful [IMG]

    any advice would be great...thanks!

Our pedi is against giving any type of Motrin when babies have an upset stomach- it is good advice. Motrin is more harsh on the stomach when sick because of the acid, etc. If you have to give them anything for their fever- just do Tylenol. Our were sick for the first time 2 months ago and I just tried the typical clear liquids- pedialytes, (gerber makes something similar that you can mix up when needed), Tylenol, pediasure (my girls loved), some flat ginger ale, liquidy jello, anything to get liquids in them. That is the main key-even if it requires spoon feeding it. I don't have much experience in this- other than we quite doing milk until it subsided. And watch any juice because it can contribute to the acid in the stomach. Do some prophylatic things to prevent butt rash - like using aquaphor mixed with some mylanta, or some Pink salve (it's not spelled that way), etc. Hope it gets better soon! It's no FUN!

We all just got over a stomach bug we brought home from Disney World. [IMG] But my twins got it first. I would suggest tylenol for the fever, hopefully they will keep it down, and pedialyte, that is what we did. If they are not keeping the pedialyte down you will need to do smaller amounts more frequently, start with an once and see how it goes, but you need to keep them hydrated. Hopefully yours will just be a 24 hour bug like we had, but it took them about 5-7 days to get back to normal feedings. Just keep offering the pedialyte and make sure they are having wet diapers. If they go 8-10 hours without a wet diaper call your pedi. immediately. Unfortunately there is really nothing more you can give them. Like PP said stay away from milk products until this has subsided. We actually switched to a lactose free formula while they had it per the pedi. orders. You may want to check on that too. Hang in there, I know it's not fun. [IMG]

We just had this experience and it lasted for a week for us. First of - don't feed them anything, just liquilytes or pedialytes. The rule is 60 cc of a liquid per hour. It would be very nice if you could give them activated charcoal (sold over the counter) 1 tablet per 10 kilos of baby weight - it will absorb toxins. As soon as you see them getting better - no vomiting, less diarrhea, you could try to give something like a saltine cracker, zwieback toast or any other white carb like mashed potatoes or rice. Mine did well with bananas too. No medications. Those are all of the directions from our pedi.

There aren't really any stomach remedies for young children. You just have to wait it out and keep them hydrated. When Sierra had the stomach flu at 8 months old, I had to give her 1 tbsp. of pedialyte an hour. She was so hungry but it kept her hydrated and also kept her from throwing up. As she was able to keep it down, I could decrease the time between servings. Formula was definitely out because it is dairy-based and dairy isn't good for stomach problems.

They can have pedialyte in small amts. I would NOT give milk based formula until they are better! It makes the diarrhea last longer!!

    BRAT DIET

    Bananas
    Rice
    Applesauce (binding like bananas)
    Toast

Those are the things you do for this!! NO MILK BASED FORMULA!! (breast milk is fine!)
