We were at the beach today and Lauren seemed VERY tired. I didn't think much of it since we had a late night last night and she had no nap today. But she wasn't her usual  self like usual when she's tired she was just crying and crying. Still, didn't think too much of it.

So we're driving home from the beach and she starts to cry again and then pukes and pukes and pukes everywhere!! I took her out of the van to wipe her off and she was burning up. :( My girls aren't pukers (aside from the infant reflux) so I just don't know what to do?

How do I put her down tonight? Towels on her bed? On the floor? A puke bucket?

How do I get the smell off the car seat straps? :bad:

Awww Michelle, poor Lauren! :( Hmmm, I think what you'll do will depend on how bad the puking is/will be. If she's only thrown up once and doesn't seem likely it'll happen again, I'd go for towels in the bed. Now, if she's throwing up a lot and has a fever I usually put them in my bed with a bucket next to me and towels. Oh and if she has a temp and isn't keeping tylenol down, try feverall, it's a suppository and works well here. Hope she feels better soon.

Awww, poor thing! I agree, if it seems to be over, I'd put her to bed with a bowl and hope for the best. Stay nearby or have a monitor turned up so you can go running to contain the mess. For all my kids, if they throw up while they're awake, they don't seem to do it after going to bed. But most bugs show up in the middle of the night...of course...and usually a night we had spaghetti or tacos. Yum. Anyway, I digress...if you're concerned that she'll throw up all over her bed, you can make a pallet on the floor or cover the couch well and let her lay/sleep there for a while. It's late now so hopefully she's over it and sleeping soundly so you can too! It's one of those things you just battle your way through one episode at a time and pray it's over soon!

Michelle, I am SO sorry to hear this. Puking is the worst! I set a puke bowl beside the bed and that is how we get through it. I also give phenergan (sp) suppositories that were prescribed from the DR. That helps a little. Definitely keep her hydrated and offer her water or something with electrolytes. Hope it ends soon.

Poor thing! We've done garbage can by the bed (for Nadia), and towels on the floor for Kevan & Karina.

One thing -- do NOT give dairy for awhile. That makes the vomiting last longer. If she's keeping down other fluids, then blend some rice milk and a banana, and give her that to drink. Those are two of the BRAT diets foods, anyway -- bananas, rice, applesauce, toast.

You have the Nautilus, right? I have taken the entire thing apart, and put all the fabric in the washer -- and the straps, too. It's a little tricky figuring out how to remove them, but it can be done!

Oh, Michelle, poor Lolo! I know I'm too late for tonight & she is probably (hopefully) already sleeping soundly, but just in case (or in case Emmalina gets it next), I tend to use large beach towels or flat sheets that I've folded so they are thicker & more absorbent, then I layer several (maybe even 4 or 5) onto the end of the bed where they will be sleeping. Then if they throw up in the night, I just pull off the top layer & put them back down. Quick & easy with not much disturbance for them. And I second the call for suppositories if she can't keep the tylenol down. Bonus is that with most stomach viruses, the worst is over within 24 hours, sometimes less. Big hugs to Lolo & Mommy.

Thank you so much for the help and concern! :friends: I did put her to bed sleeping on a towel and I kept another one on the floor with a bucket on top. And then realized they have no nightlight, how the heck would she have found it? :pardon:

I was so uneasy going to bed worried that I wouldn't hear her if she started to throw up again so I got her about 10:30 and brought her to bed with me. She asked to go back to her bed  but I told her I just wanted to make sure her tummy was okay. She was super restless, so after an hour I put her back in her bed. So much for that. :nea: She didn't wake at all during the night and hasn't thrown up since.

I did go to work this morning. She's sleeping now, which is awesome. DH said she was still feverish and lethargic but has kept down some dry toast and bananas. So we'll see how it goes when she gets up.

We're supposed to fly on Weds. so I am SO nervous about me or Emma getting it between now and then (or then!!).

BECCA - THANK YOU so much for the car seat strap advice. :bow2: Since you told me they come off, I figured out how to do it and tossed them in the washer...despite the "rinse with warm water only" tag on them. They smell SO bad. :bad:
