I have tried and tried to clean them, but hey still stink. I think it's in the padding below the vinyl liner. What do I do? I just about gag everytime I go near those things!

I started out using high chairs but they got so dirty and no matter what I did, they never came clean! I finally got booster chairs (plastic type) and they wipe clean every time. No more smelly, dirty high chairs!

I used to have chairs like that, but the plastic broke on the back, and it wasn't safe anymore. My dad got us these high chairs at a garage sale, and I love them. I just can't get the stink out!!!

What about Febreeze? I use booster seats too, so I'm probably not much help.

    Hmmm. I don't know.

The problem is I think there is an opening somewhere, and the milk or whatever it is got inside. Now, when I clean, it's only cleaning the vinyl outside, not the stinky inside. Grrr. I don't want to buy new ones! I don't have the money for that right now.

It sounds like you may need new high chair covers. They are available in a range of prices and styles (from generic) to replacements from the manufacturer of your chair... or you can do what I did (I had the same problem) I tossed the fool thing and just put a small towel on the chair. My son is three though and close to outgrowing his chair.

Not sure what kind of highchairs you have but I didn't know for about a good year that the highchair covers can be thrown into the washing machine. Made all the difference! Just put on gentle cycle for both wash and dry and they will be good to go.

    Aimee,
We washed ours, but graduated to boosters. I agree w/ pp, if they stink that bad, throw them out and cover them with a towel or something.

Can you get to the areas that you think the milk settled in and sprinkle baking soda in there? Vinegar works really well too.

BRU has inexpensive, washable seat covers for highchairs. I got really tired out trying to clean our originals ones too (our problem was mold in corners). These blue ones aren't fancy or comfy, but I can toss them in the wash as often as needed. I actually got 2 sets because we plan on using highchairs for long time.
