DD is 15 months and still not walking. She'll reach, but then get down and crawl to what she wants, or cry to be picked up. They were born at 34 weeks, but it seems late even adjusted. Anyone else have late walkers?

I know I asked my doctor about this at their 12 month appointment because my two weren't walking and he said it's normal for them to walk from 9 to 18 months. :good: I would call your pediatrician if you are worried and see what they suggest.

My girls weren't walking at 12 months & finally got the hang of it around 14 months or so.
Our pedi also told us that the average range is from 11 - 18 months :good: Still plenty of time!
I found that the more my DH & I sat on the floor & practiced having them walk to each of us the more comfortable they got with it.

My girls are 15 months month, born at 32.5 weeks and not walking too. They are cruising and can use their push toys well, but no indepedent walking. They pull up a lot and seem to want to, but no go yet. I had asked at our 1 year well baby visit about this, and our doctor told us to wait until the 18 month appointment, but as long as they showed improvement and progress, not to worry. If you are concerned, I'd call your doctor.

I get a lot of comments from everyone (including my mom!) asking why they aren't walking yet...oh well! I have learned that they will do what they want, when they want. :)

I would agree with PP's, if you are concerned definitely contact your pedi. Our DS did not get the hang of walking until 14 months. He was standing at 12 months and would only take a couple of steps. Like Tamara, we worked with him, having him walking with us (holding both of our hands), using a push to walk toy.

ive got one boy who started walking at 14 months (2 weeks ago) but the other isnt in the least bit ready. he likes walking with his walker and pulls up a lot, but his feet angle out to the side a lot and he doesnt tend to bend his legs. im worried he may have problems. our health visitor said to take him to the docs if worried but that they prob wont do anything until 18 months. he has been about a month behind brook in all the other big movement stages so im gonna wait til 16 months i think and then see.

My DS started walking at 17 months and I went full term with him. His sister started walking at 11 months. Needless to say, I was very worried, but the ped said the age spread is pretty wide. She also said that as long as he was progressing we didn't have to worry. So, DS went from scooting on his butt (so cute), to crawling, to cruising, and then to walking. It was a slow process but within the past month he went from taking a few steps, to now, at 18 months almost running. Talk to your ped, but I wouldn't worry. I wasted a lot of energy doing that.

If you are concerned talk to your pedi about getting an EI appointment. The normal range is until 18 months, but you know your child best so talk to your pedi.
