I hate to admit this, but my twinkies (18 months) are still in their swings. In about another 1lb or soon, they will be at the limit of the swings. Not to mention, they REALLY need to nap IN THEIR CRIBS. When they are in their cribs for naps, the two of them just throw everything out and have a party upstairs (they are in the same room and will be for a couple more years). They go down at night in their crib without trouble. Suggestions? Toughlove it out ... if they don't nap that day, then ?

Do you have a packnplay that you could put in another room so they nap seperately? Have you tried to seperate them for naps? Good luck!

I think Liz has hit on something!! Separate them for naps only or just put them down earlier to see if they can get the party over with and then go to sleep.....

You can probably find a decent pack n play for pretty cheap on Craigslist...I say try them in different rooms and just go for it. They'll probably be mad, but it will be harder on you than them.

Put them down and then jump in the shower if they don't settle down within 15-minutes. What you can't hear won't hurt you. ;)

    Good Luck.

Ditto the pack & play. Also, you could try staying in the room with them to nip the partying in the bud. You may have to stay in the room for the whole nap the first few times, and they still might not even nap, but it will probably help in the long run. And even if you then have to break the habit of being in the room, it's better than having them in the swings.

They CAN nap in their cribs. You have to start by believing this! It will probably take some effort, but it is worth it and it can be done. GL! :)

I don't know how big your kids are, I'm guessing not that big if they are still in swings, but mine really got too big for the PNP at 24 months. They were starting to try to climb in and out of it, and tipped it over one day. So, just something to consider, that if they may be too big for the PNP soon, it might not be worth starting that for naps, and instead going right to cribs for naps.

That said, I have two nap party animals. They only nap about half the time, other days, they just talk, sing, and play. It really doesn't bother me too much, we just put them to bed early on days they didn't nap.

I agree. I would definitely start trying to separate them for naps.

I ditto this. It will probably be a VERY rough 2-3 days, but ride it out, they can do it!!!! If they don't nap then I would anticiapte an earlier bedtime.
