Still driving at 34+ weeks?

Just curious how much the rest of you are leaving the house alone in the last few weeks of pregnancy.....my OB was really taken aback when I showed up by myself for my appt last week. I told him I still fit into my minivan, thank goodness, LOL.

But seriously, I'm barely doing anything else -- just not functioning anymore -- but DH stays home with DD during my appts, which can take awhile these days because of the NST's. Should I be making him drive me at this point?

And for that matter, should I not be going anywhere else? Not that I am, really -- a 20-minute waddle through Target, and I'm finished for the day -- but is it a good idea to just stay home?

What are the rest of you doing?

I didn't drive because I couldn't comfortably turn around to look over my shoulder to change lanes or back out.

I drove up to 37 weeks, and didn't have problems at all. My mom arrived at 37 weeks and basically took over ... it was just easier for all of us.

I drove myself to have bloodwork done for my c-section the next day and I was 38 weeks 4 days!! it wasn't the driving that got me = it was the walking!! when I got out of the van to walk in somewhere - It felt like someone was going to fall out! so I did not venture out much because of that!!

I drove the day before I delivered at 39wks 2d...I had last minute things to do and had to take and pick up DH at work. I had a minivan also so I had plenty of room.

my ob told me at 24 weeks to only drive to my appts. - she was concerned about me having a big belly and the airbags

I'm at 36 weeks 5 days and still driving. I hate getting into the car because it's so hot now, but that's it. I'm with you on only being up for one car trip and maybe one short walk a day, though. And each of those earns a nap. My DH is on deck for the next several Dr appointments, just in case.

Good for you!!
At 38 weeks I drove my husband & I to the hospital for my scheduled c-section! I could put the palm of my hand between the steering wheel & my tummy!

Still driving and never considered not driving!! I am huge but able to back the seat up enough that it is a safe distance!

I worked and drove up until I had my c-section at 39 weeks. I actually drove myself to the hospital to get check out the morning I had my c-section. I never once considered not driving.

I drove up until I delivered. I was put on modified bedrest at 32 weeks and still drove to all of my appointments which was atleast 3 times a week (2 NST's and 1 OB appointment). I was taken off bedrest at 36 weeks and I went grocery shopping and to Walmart (I wanted the little buggers out.) I even went shopping the day before they were born which was 37 weeks 1 day. So I say if you are still comfortable driving then go for it.

I drove myself to the hospital at 35 weeks 5 days when my water broke. I figure if you can fit behind the wheel :D and you feel comfortable doing it go for it.

At 34w I was on strict br and had to have my dh take me to my appts. You must be thrilled to still get around on your own.

I'm still driving. Basically to and from appt's ~ DH meets me there, as he is coming from work. I do occassionally go to the grocery store or Target...but like you ~ it is about 20 minutes or so and I am DONE!!!!

I'm just listening to my body. When I can't reach the steering wheel anymore ~ I'll be done.

Hang in there...we don't have much longer now. 35 weeks tomorrow ~ YAY!!!!!

April :)

I still drive myself to my appts. I am very picky about who I ride with, and how the other person drives. My husband drives ok but I don't like that he gets the road rage. I'd rather drive or not go anywhere at all. Even on bed rest I still drive myself to every appt. My gigantic belly hasn't even made it to the streering wheel on my car yet. :pardon: I have great adjustable seats. Unfortunately I think that I might not be able to reach the pedals if I move the seat again tho. The good thing is, I haven't went to Wal-mart or any other store for about 2 weeks due to all the looks that I have been getting, and because I can't bring myself to actually ask for the oldies cart--lol.

Lots of love!

I stopped driving at 32 weeks just because I couldn't get the clutch all the way to the floor anymore because I had the seat back! (both of my cars are a stick shift)...

I drove until the very end (40 weeks). Driving was EASY. Walking was another story :)
