Does anyone else have pain in their sternum (the lowest point where the ribs come together)? Mine is tender to touch, like the cartilage/muscle part right below the ribs. I notice it when I take a deep breath too. I just wonder if it's related to the pelvic bone spreading or something. Like even the rib ligaments can get stretched?

Me, me, me! It's so uncomfortable! I thought at first it was because of the bedrest and spending so much time on my side (I'm sure it didn't help), but it comes and goes and I'm always laying down. Some nights I just want to cry it hurts so bad! I'm not sure what causes it, but I really hope it goes away after my babies are born.
Yes! I had this and I thought I was going crazy. It only lasted about 2-3 weeks and I did ask my doc about it. In my case, though, I think it started after I tried to stifle a sneeze. Weird, huh?Everytime I sneeze or cough, I try to do so softly for the babies sake (for the record, I sneeze with a lot of force on a normal basis!) I know that sounds strange, but I feel like I'm causing an earthquake in there if I don't! And I noticed that deep pain in my chest/sternum almost immediately after I tried to hold a sneeze in. So, the doc thought that I may have pulled a little muscle there or something! Maybe not the answer you are looking for, but if you have twisted incorrectly, held in a sneeze/cough or done anything else physically to startle a muscle there, that might be what initiated the pain. Then again, it would make sense to me that all the pressure from below could cause tension in that area.
I haven't had the joy of experiencing that pain just yet, but I have heard of several women who have (including a couple of friends pregnant with singletons.) They said their Dr said it was because of how the babies were positioned at the time--they were just kind of pushing things out of whack. I guess you really are a human punching bag in this case. I hope they shift and give you some relief soon! Reyna
Yep it could be how the babies are positioned right now and also the ligaments that connect the ribs. whatever is causing it I hope it goes away soon!
Yes my sternum hurt when I was pregnant. It never did go back in place so it now sticks up a little bit.
