Steriod Shots

Are there any side effects to getting them?

If not why arent they mandoraty for moms of multiples to get them at a certain stage in pregnancy?

 

I didn't have any side effects from them, neither did my babies. I think they aren't mandatory if your pregnancy is going well...if you have preterm labor is when I think you get them. I got them at 28wks bc I was dilating, funneling and had a shortened cervix...I didn't have the boys til 34wks

 

I just got my steroid shots last weekend. One on Saturday & one Sunday. Had no side effects at all. They wanted me to have them as a precautions since I did have threatened premature labor weeks ago. Dr said the benefit out weights any risks, although he did mention with twins, theres no data to prove they shots help, but they dont hurt so why not.

 

I got them at 24w after an emergency cerclage. I did not have any side effects and have never heard there are any.

 

I received my shots at 32 weeks and had no side effects at all and also did not hear of any reasons why not to have them.

 

i got 2 steroid injections but that was around 32 weeks due to pre-eclampsia setting in. the OB didn't want to take any chances and gave me the injections, one on each side of my thigh. it seemed to have helped because both boys' were borth with excellent lung development and we delivered early at 35 weeks. their apgar scores were 8/9 and 9/9 so something helped.

as for side effects in me, i didn't notice any and i think it's too early to tell in the boys' but i think that all will be well.
