Steri Strips

For anyone that had a C-section, how long did it take for steri strips to come off by themselves? The Dr. said not to pick at them but they are gross and it has been 4 weeks today. I really want to take them off. Trying to decide to do it now or wait till after my 6 week appt.

 

There is no reason for you not to take them off. Usually they come off after about 10 days, so they are serving no purpose!

 

OH DEAR.. My peri took mine off at 2 weeks PP. As far as I know, you're good at 2 weeks.. I know what you mean about gross!! They are cool little things but at 4 weeks they must be terrible!!

I was told after my first apt. I could take them off after another five days. So that would be by three weeks. I would take them off, they get really gross.

I would take them off. I did after about 2 weeks.

 

Ditto the pp's, I would recommend getting in the shower first and gently scrubbing at them with a washcloth, that will loosen the edges and help them to come off easier. Plus then you'll be able to wash the area after they come off (there will be a bunch of dead skin cells built up at this stage.

get in the shower to take them off. before you do that put some baby oil on them! it will loosen them up.

i had to deliver at a different hospital cuz the 1 my doc worked from didnt have a high enough level nicu- the docs that delivered said to leave them alone. when i went back for my 2 week visit my doc pulled them off. OMG i was flipping out. i felt like it was gonna open up lol. and it kinda hurt!

I think my doctor removed the few that were remaining at my 2 week appointment. I'd take them off.

 

My OB removed all but 3 at my 2 week PP visit. She said give the others a couple more days and then take them off. It didnt really hurt, but the glue gunk they left behind took me days to get rid of.

 

I just took most of mine off last night after soaking in the bath. I'm now 5 weeks PP. I thought they had to be taken off at 6 weeks PP, but I called my nurse and she said they can be removed at 10 days PP. LOL!!! I have two that aren't budging, and hurt to pull on them, so I'm going to try to remove them again tonight after my bath.

 

Some of mine came off after just a couple of days, but the I took the rest off after 2 weeks. I would say soak them and take them off.
