Stay in Antepartum Unit!

Well Tuesday I had a regular Peri appt. or so I thought. I go in for a fFN test, u/s, and just normal appt. My fFN test came back NEGATIVE!!! YAY!!! PTL!!! Heartbeats and babies look absolutley wonderful... well before I get up to leave the Peri asks me, If I am having any unusual sypmtoms.... and I told her that I can't seem to catch my breath.. at all... It feels like I am having a hour long anxiety attack.. it gets worse when I lay down... stand up or do anything.. so she puts me on the monitors for contractions and had none!!! She checks my heart rate which was 132!!! Tachaycardia.... so I got admitted to the Antepartum Unit! The reason being, I have a blood clotting disorder, and they thought my body was throwing blood clots. I had to see a Pulmanologist. I had every test imaginable ran. EKG, ultrasound of my legs(to make sure no clots had formed there) and a CT SCAN. <~~ Which was the worst part of it all... The nurse came back and said, we need to do a CT Scan and make sure you have no clots in your lungs.. I asked the risks, Fetal Death, Spinal Bifida, and Leukemia, all for the babies!! And I said absolutley not! No way in heck! She said, well your babies will die anyway if your not living.... so i had to have it done... the scariest feeling in the world is knowing while your laying there having that stupid test done, that could be the very last time you feel your babies kick..... Needless to say, I was torn up!! I turned it all over right there in the CT Scanner, and said Lord, you wouldn't have let me get this far, and just take them away, please shield my babies. I didn't feel them kick for 10-15minutes after the scan, so the nurse came in and done heart tones, and they were just fine... and I know just know they will be from here on out!! And PTL I wasn't throwing blood clots, all the test came back NEGATIVE... it was just my BIG BOYS have decided to take up residency in my lungs..lol.. Which is just fine with me!! And I'm very thankful to my Peri.'s, for taking every precaution! I'm 26 weeks today and looking forward to the next 8-10weeks!!!!

How scary, I'm glad that everything came back ok though!

 

THat must have been scary and a difficult choice. I'm glad everything's ok and I hope it stays that way for many more weeks!

On another note - you just said 8-10 weeks. I'm 26 weeks, too. I forgot that these babies are just 8-10 weeks away! SCARY!

 

the same exact thing happened to me!!! my resting pulse was 140. everytime i stood up my oxygen level would go down. this is a sign of a blood clot in the lung. i was SO scared to do the cat scan, but they said it wouldn't do the babies any good if i was dead. so i did it and no clot for me either. just pregnancy induced tachycardia.

 

Wow! What an eventful day! :hug99: I had to have a CT scan at about 30 weeks and was just as terrified for my babies as you were...I asked for second opinions, had my mom and MIL looking it up online...everything. My doc told me the same thing...your babies will be fine with the scan, but if something happens to you, they won't be.

That sounds like a terrifying experience, but I'm glad that the doctors were proactive and everything was fine for all concerned. Phew!!
