My boys just turned 11 months and rather than buy more formula we have decided to switch to whole milk once we run out. Do they need vitamin supplements??? What do you get?

My girls were given a prescription for liquid vitamins at the 9 month pedi appointment. I just put 1 dropper full each day in their milk. I don't know if they sell liquid vitamins over the counter b/c I've had this prescription that they've used since they were still on formula.

our public health does not promote the need for vitamins when switching to whole milk and I never used any with my first son. Now I have put my twins on Liquid multivitamin so I can help build them up for the cold and flu season. If they are getting a well balanced meal than there is probably no need for it. I think that it is personal preference. We can buy them at the pharmacy or any local health food store without a perscription.

I did give my first 3 kids liquid vitamins but I didn't give them to Luke & Lila. :pardon: They started chewables at age 2, but not before.

Our pediatrician recommended Poly Vi Sol when the kids turned 12 months and started milk. Since my DD's iron is low, we have her on Poly Vi Sol with iron.

Once we switched from formula to cows milk we started giving them a flinstone gummy vitamin each daily. I think we're going on about a month off of formula now? And so far they've done good with them.

I did not start vitamins until around age 2, which is when most of the chewables are recommended.

My ped said as long as they are good eaters and eat a good variety of foods, a vitamin isn't necessary. I do give my older kids vitamins for those "just in case" days where they don't eat right, but otherwise no once my babies go off formula I don't add in a liquid vitamin.
