I'm getting excited about starting solids. But I probably won't be starting until a month or so. My question is: how many bowls, plastic bibs, spoons, sippy cups(I want them to just get accustomed to these), etc do we need?

Is there anything else I could buy that would make solid feeding fun and easier? Any suggestions for particular brands as well?

    TIA!

    Hi Marie!
I was so excited to start solids, too! It's been so much fun, but that could be that our little guys don't know how to be crazy-messy yet!
We have about 20 of those Take and Toss bowls and about 25 spoons. It seems like we go through the bowls like crazy! I got a TON of bibs at my shower and thought I'd never use them all. WRONG! I use them all and always have a bucket of them soaking, ready to wash. We must have like, 20 bibs, too!
We have the Fisher Price Aquarium Heathly Care high chairs. They are awesome! One thing that I love is that they come with these little toys that connect to the side. The boys play with them after they're done eating and since they are connected, they can't throw them on the floor.
    Have fun!

BIG BIG BIG Bibs is what I would suggest. They are the messiest eaters and it ends up everywhere. In their hair in their eyes on their legs u name it it is usually covered in food. But oh it is the cutest cutest sight ever. It just makes u laugh

    Here were our favorites:

    1) Gerber bowls with lids (these come in handy as the kids get older and don't finish their finger foods that you can keep until later). They come in a 4-pack, we have two sets (8 bowls total).
    2) Gerber soft coated spoons (the small ones, not the stubby little toddler spoons).
    3) Bumkins bibs (these are sooooo easy to hand wash and are dry by the next feeding and don't stain).
    4) Nuby soft spout sippies (these have a silicone spout, similar to a bottle and so the kids took to them right away).

I don't have much to add since you have been given some wonderful advice. What I do have to say is, I would strip mine down to their diaper when feeding the orange veggies. I used Dreft Stain Remover spray for stains and it worked wonders on everything, except the nasty orange veggies. Have fun and get the camera ready!!

Bibs, Bibs, Bibs! I use diaper cloths to wipe their little faces as they are softer than face cloths. We bought the Munchkin divided dish/bowl that you can put hot water in the bottom so you don't have to get up to reheat the food if it gets cold. Sassy makes a divided dish too that we bought that has a cover, so you can make meals in advance to save time... I tried to share spoons/bowls but just can't get myself to do it (I have germ issues), I have them use their own and it works okay. I am right handed and the one that is on my left is always a bit messier as it is a challenge to spoon the food off in between bites with my left hand. I love to see their expressions with new foods, we always have the camera close by! Splat mats are a good purchase too if you have carpeting. I used to buy the little 2.5oz jars until I e-mailed the Beechnut co. and asked what the difference with the stage 1 to stage 2 was and they said "quantity, not consistency" so we buy the bigger jars as you get more for your money with twins. Have fun!

I think I'm going to have to do this! I hate carrots right now! That's the only thing I've fed them that I can't get out
