Hi all! My boys are 22 months. They've just decided it's cool to walk on their toes. They don't do it all the time, just every so often and thinks it's funny when they do. I'm pretty sure this is normal part of development. Is that true?

Also, when did you kiddos start jumping with both feet off the ground and standing on one foot?without holding on to anything We are working on these 2 things but they have a ways to go -- espcially the jumping.

    Just curious :)

    Thanks,
    Mendy

Mine sometimes like to walk on their toes, too. Actually they are experimenting with all kinds of different walking right now -- shuffling their feet, marching, walking backwards, etc. I do think it's a new developmental thing where they've realized they can do things differently and they're loving to experiment. It's very funny!

Mine can't jump with both feet yet, although they do try a little. I was just looking at a milestone chart a few days ago and I think it said that was typically around 2.5 years.

Mine also like to walk around on the ball so of their feet, and do it quite well. Clarissa finally managed to jump with both feet coming of the ground a few weeks ago - so about 26 months, and Elliot's still working on it.

Mine can both do a little bit of standing on one foot, but not for very long.

Clarissa has just started doing a funny thing - she likes to scoot around on her tummy, pushing herself backwards with her arms, just like when she was trying to learn to crawl. I think she does it for fun, so it's not really a regression, but seems a little strange to me.

A lot to trick walking is going on here. Cole and Chloe both experiment with shuffling their feet, stomping, walking backward, walking without bending their legs, and tippy-toe walking too. I think it's a total crackup!! I think we are still too young for jumping.

I think I remember them measuring some of those developmental milestones in Kindergarten for my oldest son. ( I was pg with the twins that year, so I could be off a little!!) My twins can both jump with both feet (we will be 3 soon) but we also have a trampoline, which helps with that issue. I think my dd can stand on one foot, but I'm not sure about Garrett.

Oh yeah, the other thing they like to do is "walk" on their knees, chanting, "Walk knees!Walk knees!" LOL!
