Standing in stroller-- what now?

Yesterday DD decided to wriggle out of her securely fastened seat belt in the stroller while I was shopping. I looked down at her (in the back of our tandem Duoglider) to see her standing and reaching for something.
I busied her with an item I was planning on buying and she didn't do it again.

Today we went to the craft store and I decided to put her in the front hoping that she would be excited about her new seat and stay seated. I kept my eye on her and she stood up on the footrest while buckled and holding onto the snack tray leaning forward a la Titanic. Ahhh. I kept telling her to sit but she was happily strolling like that. She felt securely fastened, but it did not look safe.

What do I do-- the stroller is my life line to take the babies out. I don't think I can tighten the straps anymore than they are???

Just tell her no, and tell her to sit down.
Both of my girls can get out of the 5 point harness in the combi and MBUD. But I have found if I keep moving they are usually pretty good.

HAHA! My DS does the Titanic thing if he's in front. His favorite thing is to lean and let his finger drag on the wheels, so he's in back now. DD can get herself out by leaning over, too. I just have to watch them like crazy now and it is hard. It used to be so nice to know they were "secure" in the stroller, but not anymore.

I tell them to sit, but if I really need to distract them, I bust out the snacks. They generally forget about what they were doing then.

Mine do this too. Lily does the climbing and the Titanic thing, Grace does the Titanic thing only (for now). Snacks work for a while, and if we keep moving they are good. But when I shop I stop and browse, and then the climbing begins.

I bought two of those backpack harnesses (leashes). Grace isn't really confidently walking, but when she does she's not going to want to sit in the stroller either, and I figure the harnesses may be the only way I can take them shopping in a short while.

I am sad that I've lost the stroller security blanket too. :( I always said I would never use leashes on my kids, but I've eaten those words...something to do with having twin toddlers who want to go two separate directions. As it is, Lily went streaking across the pedi's office in only her diaper yesterday. I was trying to stop Grace from crawling on the medical office floor and DH was reading the sheet they pedi had given us, and in less than 5 seconds Lily was off and across the building talking to another little munchkin in a different room...oy!

Yes, I do tend to let them snack to keep them still but some stores frown upon that. I also like to keep their eating more scheduled.

I am not against the leashes but do not feel ready for them for some reason, they walk fine but I think that may be a whole new can of worms........
