I went in to get ds from his nap and there he is standing, holding onto the bars, chewing on the top of the crib while smiling!! I knew he was trying to pull himself up on everything over the past week, but actually doing it on his own in the crib - I am shocked! Does this mean cruising is not far off now? I don't want him walking yet!!

It really depends. Friends of ours have DD who started pulling up at 7 months and started cruising a little while later, but she didn't walk until after her first birthday. My girls started pulling up/cruising between 9-10 months and started walking within the month.

Wow...mine started pulling up around the 9-10 month mark, cruising around 11-12, and mine didn't officially walk until 14.5 months.

I think it means you are closer to cruising then ever before! Mine started cruising about the time they started pulling up - because once they are "up" it's like a whole new world to explore and they are so curious.

Mine have been pulling up for a couple weeks now but every time they try to cruise they fall...I think it will be a bit before they have it perfected.
    Have fun Isis!

Oh it sounds like you will be having a lot of fun real soon, Isis!
Sophia just started pulling up and we had to lower her crib. Once she realizes what she can do while "up", I think DH and I are literally going to have to pad the house!

Our girls started pulling themselves up this last week. The problem is they don't know how to "GRACEFULLY" get themselves back down....so they just fall back. Sometimes they land on their butts but more often then not, they end up banging their heads on the ground or on the railing of the crib. We have hardwood floors which of course means lots of crying when they hit their heads. We've got an area rug on the floor with 3 large comforters to soften their fall but ultimately a head bang still leads to crying.

Is anyone else's babies experiences the same growing pains?

Any recommendations on how to teach them how to sit back down once they've pulled themselves up?

    TIA

With Roman, it all seemed to happen at once. He pulled up on the music table, and the next thing I knew, he let go of the music table with one hand, grabbed the couch, turned around and grabbed the couch with his other hand--and it's been non-stop ever since. His newest thing is standing up in the crib and letting go with both hands, standing (teetering) for a moment, then grabbing the railing again.

Get ready Isis, I foresee a lot of chasing in your future!!! :D
