I was wondering at what age most people started their babies on the stage 3 foods? It's been almost 3 yrs since I went through this with my oldest and I can't remember at what age I started her. My girls are 8.5 mths, I was thinking of slowly starting them on the stage 3 jars. At the store yesterday I saw the jar said for 8mths and older so I wasn't sure. Right now my girls are little piggies for breakfast they eat 6 TB dry cereal/oatmeal and a whole container of stage 2 fruit, for lunch they eat a whole container of stage 2 fruit and a stage 2 veggie, at dinner they eat 6 TB dry cereal/oatmeal and a 1/2 container of stage 2 fruit and veggie. In between all that they take 3 bottles (including theit bedtime bottle) 7-8oz in each bottle. One of my girls has 2 teeth and my other girl has 1 tooth, not sure if that comes into play when to start stage 3 foods.

    thanks for any input

Some babies don't have teeth until after 12 months... they gum things just fine. I'd say go for it personally, worst case they will gag a bit. But again, I started mine with stage 2 jars

I was a nervous wreck about all foods ... haha ... We didn't offer Stage 3 until 9 months, and they never ever ate them. When we first started giving them Stage 3s, they hated them ... they gagged non stop and wouldn't eat it. We literally never ate them. We went from Stage 2 to finger foods. And a lot of people I know never did Stage 3s because their kids didn't like them... so don't stress if they never eat them.

i just started mine on stage 3's last week (only because everyone said their babies hated them, so i wasn't gonna even try it). mine LOVE them! they scarf it down.

p.s. i've been doing table foods here and there since they were like 9 months old

My girls only recently got teeth and have been on Stage 3 for awhile. If they are hungry for more than a stage 2 container holds I'd give them a stage 3. If they'll take it, it took my girls awhile to get used to the texture.

I tried a jar of the stage 3 foods today at lunch, wow the looks I got from the twins! they were both shaking their heads, spitting it out so I think I'll back off the stage 3 for a few days then try again.

Same thing happened to us. I think when they get the texture in there they dont know what to do with it in their mouth since most things are smooth that you spoon feed. Mine never really got into the chunks. They gagged alot. But they were totally fine with stage 2's thickened with cereal. Go figure.

We will do stage 3 fruits and others that seem to be just a larger jar. I won't do the ones with chunks though. I'm tired of being puked on and they would rather have finger food and are still happy with stage 2 dinners.
